Important note:The fact that the respective units are labelled as such should have no bearing on the
determination of the proximate cause of this collision.
Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, WA.
On 01-24-2026 at approximately 1309 hours I was dispatched to a blocking collision at Sunset BLVD NE and NE
10th St.
I arrived and observed both units were blocking southbound traffic on NE 10th St,just north of Sunset BLVD
NE. Both units were operational, and I requested them to relocate to the nearby parking lot. Unit 1 had
sustained front driver side damage. Unit 2 had sustained rear end damage,with an apparent point of impact
to the rear passenger side.
I spoke with each driver.
The driver of unit 1 advised that he was travelling south on NE 10th St when he was suddenly struck by unit 2.
He advised that he was unsure where unit 2 came from, and that unit 2 was possibly attempting to overtake
him, crossing the double yellow line.
The driver of unit 2 advised that she was travelling south on NE 10th St, when she was struck by unit 1. She
also advised that she was unsure where unit 1 came from or what their actions were.
My observations of the collision led me to believe that it was an apparent side-swipe style collision, but due to
the nondescript account of what had occurred by each driver, I was unable to establish which unit's actions
were the proximate cause of the collision.
I provided each driver with an exchange of information.
