Correspondence & Announcements:
• Discussion of open calls for art currently listed on the City’s bid’s page:
o Legacy Square Wall Art RFP (due January 9)
o Legacy Square Floor and Stage door Art RFQ (Due January 23)
o Legacy Square Community Activation RFI (due January 9)
o Call for utility box art RFP (due January 9)
o Dragon’s Landing Event project manager (due January 9)
Review of Minutes from December Meeting:
• Minutes were reviewed and approved. MSC: Sara/Brooke
Budget Update –
• 2025 budget was well-utilized.
• Exploring a local arts agency grant (NEA) for 2027.
• 2025 budget review completed in preparation for Retreat.
Committee Updates:
• Committee members are encouraged to prepare for the 2026 Retreat with new ideas
ways to improve on existing plans and programs.
• Five participants completed the Artist Sunday puzzle; feedback indicated it was
challenging due to spread-out locations and month-long availability. Suggestions
include centralizing featured artists or spotlights.
Old Business:
• 2026 Retreat scheduled for January 10, 1–5 pm at Renton Community Center.
Materials (agenda, Legacy Square Art Plan, Arts & Culture Master Plan, City
Resolution) distributed ahead of Retreat. Recommended to review 2025 Arts Beat
for reference.
• Feedback requested on rentonwa.gov/RMAC landing page regarding content,
highlights, and usability.
• Progress continues a possible collaboration between Public Works/Storm Water for
a manhole cover art project and art contest.
New Business:
• Dragon Day scavenger hunt planning underway (items and quantity).
• Selection committees needed for: utility box art, Legacy Square wall, Legacy Square
asphalt near stage door, and Dragon Day project management.
