EG74194 CASE# 26-816 O OF COLLI 510N TIME 01/28/26 18:12 COLLISION NARRATIVE On January 28, 2026, at approximately 1812 hours, I was dispatched to injury and blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of SE 169th St and 116th Ave SE, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. While en route, Officer Leverton advised via radio that his spouse was involved in the collision and mentioned she sustained injuries. He requested Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA) to respond as a precaution due to the injuries sustained. Officer Leverton said his wife's vehicle almost rolled over from the impact and was now parked off the roadway. Upon my arrival, I confirmed that the driver of Unit#2 was complaining of neck and back pain. The driver, identified as Jennifer Leverton, was holding her head stating she felt pain. The driver of Unit#1 was also on scene. The driver was identified as Ali Akbari who refused any medical attention and stated that his vehicle was parked in a nearby parking lot. RRFA responded and evaluated Jennifer. She was treated at the scene and released by RRFA. While on scene, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1, Ali Akbari, said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling eastbound on SE 169th St and had approached the stop-sign controlled intersecting roadway of 116th Ave SE. Ali provided two different stories and stated that while stopped he was intending to drink soda from a Coca Cola can. While sipping the soda, the collision occurred in the southbound lane of 116th Ave SE. The second statement was that Ali had come to a stop and while drinking the soda, he released the brake and collided with Unit#2. After the two vehicles collided, Unit#1 sustained significant damage to his front bumper. The driver of Unit#2, Jennifer Leverton, was the sole occupant of her vehicle and was traveling southbound on 116th Ave SE. As Jennifier passed the intersecting roadway of SE 169th St, Unit#1 failed to yield to her vehicle . Jennifer was unable to avoid the collision and never saw it coming. Subsequently, Unit#1 collided into Unit#2 causing significant damage to the rear wheel and back bumper. Based on the above statements, I determined that Ali is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as he did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Ali violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. I issued Ali a Sector infraction for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision. Unit#2 was towed due to extensive damage. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties. Photographs were taken and attached to Axon.
