The driver of Unit#1 said he was trying to make a U-turn into oncoming traffic to proceed north. He advised that he saw Unit#2 coming but believed he had enough time to turn. As he made a U-turn onto a two-lane street traveling North on Talbot RD S, he was hit in the rear by Unit#2, which caused him to spin out and stop on top of the sidewalk. The driver claims Unit #2 was speeding when he was hit. Unit#1's vehicle was heavily damaged all around and not drivable. The vehicle was towed by Bankers. The driver claimed he had minor injuries to his left hand. He advised that he had General insurance but was unable to get the policy. I provided him with my email and stated that when he does, he should email me. Unit#2 advised she was traveling northbound on Talbot RD S in lane #2 (lane #1 being the nearest to the sidewalk). While traveling, she saw Unit#1 make a left turn from the middle lane and assumed he was turning into a street or business. As she proceeded to drive in her lane, she then hit the rear right bumper of Unit#1 vehicle. The driver said she was unaware the vehicle was making a U-turn. Unit#2 had damage to the front bumper of her vehicle. Her vehicle was not drivable and was towed by bankers. She claimed injuries on both her wrists and had a scratch mark on her left hand. Both drivers were provided with a case number and exchanged information. Fire was dispatched, and both were medically cleared. Photos of both vehicles were taken and submitted as evidence. The driver of Unit#1 will receive a traffic ticket (6A0119736) for making an unsafe U-turn. RCW 46.61.295 (Prohibited U-Turn) states that you cannot make a U-turn in the opposite direction if it's not safe or would interfere with other traffic. Because Unit#1 did not ensure the road was clear and safe, he would receive a ticket. If Unit#1 had cleared the road and made sure it was safe before making a U-turn, this accident would not have occurred. This concludes my report. My Axon camera was on for this call. I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. This report was electronically signed by Officer S.
