Narrative
On 02-15-2026 at 0746 hours I was dispatched to the intersection of Union Ave NE/NE 8th St, in the City of
Renton, County of King, State of Washington,for a vehicle vs pedestrian collision.
Upon arrival, I contacted Unit#1 which was driving the vehicle. Unit#1 stated she was driving south on Union
Ave NE and made a left hand turn going east on NE 8th St. When she made the turn she did not see Unit#2
walking across the crosswalk until the last second. Her vehicle has Automatic Emergency Braking and stopped
the vehicle before hitting Unit#2. Unit#2 did not make contact with her vehicle but fell back onto the ground.
Unit#1 got out of the vehicle, checked on Unit#2, and waited for police to arrive.
I looked at the front of the vehicle and did not see any damage, hand marks, or any signs that would indicate
Unit#2 made contact with the vehicle.
I contacted Unit#2 and she had a clear injury to her right wrist. She stated she was walking north on Union
Ave NE and used the crosswalk to cross over NE 8th St. While in the crosswalk, Unit#1 made a left turn
straight towards her and it scared her so she fell backwards onto her wrist.The Renton Fire Department
arrived and stated she probably had a broken wrist. Unit#2 was taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
I provided both subjects with my business card and the case number for their records. I explained to Unit#2
how to get a copy of the report and that Unit#1's insurance was in the report.
