The following occurred in the City of Renton, King County, Washington unless otherwise stated.
During this incident 1 was equipped with body-worn camera which records both audio and video.
Portions of the incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not
intended to be an exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured
with the recording system. During this incident 1 was wearing a department issued uniform or jump
suit and outer carrier vest which was marked with "Police"both on the front, back, and
department patches on each shoulder of the uniform or jumpsuit, as well as a Renton Police Velcro
badge on my►eft chest. It would be immediately obvious to any reasonable person that I was a
Police Officer.
On 2/16/2026 at 1607 hours I was dispatched to a hit and run report at the around the 800 block of
Talbot Rd S.
I met with the victim, identified as Erik M. Hawes (DOB: 03/27/1991), who stated that he was in the
#3 lane of Southbound Talbot Rd S. Hawes stated that he was stopped for traffic when a Rivian
pickup truck approached from behind and the front bumper of the Rivian collided with the rear
bumper of his 2016 Hyundai Elantra (WA LP: AYA8302) causing minor damage.
Hawes stated that he did not get a license plate for the suspect vehicle that fled South on Talbot Rd S
but did see that the driver was a black female with puffy hair, aged around 40-50. Hawes stated that
he did not think he would be able to ID the suspect if he saw her again.
At this time, there are no suspects in this case.
