HomeMy WebLinkAboutRE_ Renton Market and Piazza (C25000233)Thank you Heather,
With the removal of the catenary lights this seems like a very simple solution and I’m ok that this work can proceed prior to formal approval of a design change so as to not cause any
standby time for the contractor. Please ensure that the SPU inspector is also notified of the change and is onsite per their requirements.
For the design change, please send us an updated planset removing the catenary lights from the scope (crossouts and or X’ing out of whole sheets is ok with a note stating “removed from
scope”). Also include the storm revision.
Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Mike,
The project team has decided to remove the catenary light poles from the current project’s scope. These lights may be considered as part of a future improvement project for Logan, but
that is still to be determined and will be addressed by others at a later date.
We are proposing the following revisions:
* Eliminate the catenary light pole foundations from this project.
* Reroute the storm system by running the storm line from the last AD to a new junction structure onsite.
* Connect the rerouted storm line to the existing catch basin on Logan (see attached plans and the snip below).
For these changes, specifically the foundation removals and storm system reroute, can this be covered as an as‑built condition, or would a permit update be required?
Thanks,
Heather

Good morning Heather,
We generally don’t allow cleanouts once the storm main is within the public sidewalk so the proposal may need to have a type I catch basin with slip resistant lid for the bend (in the
sidewalk). The 1st bend could be cleanout or area drain. But do have a question, see my sketch below, about tying in to the existing area drain the 12” ties into. That may be an
easier solution. I do see what could be a catenary light foundation and that gets demoed and is just in the existing background.

Hi Mike,
Hope you’re doing well! I have a question for the Renton Market and Piazza project currently under construction. The contractor is having difficulty crossing the existing electrical
duct bank and is proposing to reroute the proposed 8" SD to tie into the existing SDCB within the ROW. This reroute would require placing a cleanout in the ROW.
I can see this being done 2 ways:
1. Install a new cleanout on the existing 12" SD and connect the 8" SD, maintaining 2 ft of clearance from the catenary light‑pole foundation.
2. Reuse the existing 12" SD as a sleeve for the 8" SD, grout both ends, install a cleanout at the bend in the 8" SD, and maintain 2 ft of clearance from the catenary light‑pole foundation.
Do you have any objections to placing a cleanout in the ROW or to either of these two approaches?
Please let me know if you have any questions or would like to hop on a call to discuss.
Thank you,
Heather
