GENERAL NOTES:
1. ALL WORK SHALL BE COMPLETED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CITY OF RENTON STANDARDS,
WSDOT/APWA STANDARD PLANS, CURRENT WSDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, LATEST
AMENDMENTS TO THE STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS, SPECIAL PROVISIONS, AND THESE PLANS.
2. THE LOCATION OF ALL NEW POLES AND EQUIPMENT TO BE INSTALLED SHALL BE VERIFIED IN
THE FIELD BY THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
3. ALL EXISTING OR PROPOSED TRANSPORTATION FEATURES WITHIN THE PROJECT
CONSTRUCTION LIMITS SHALL MEET CURRENT ADA STANDARDS (I.E. JUNCTION BOXES SHALL
HAVE NON-SKID LIDS).
4. THE CONSTRUCTION PLANS DO NOT SHOW ALL UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. ALL EXISTING
UTILITIES SHALL BE LOCATED AND MARKED IN THE FIELD PRIOR TO PERFORMING ANY
UNDERGROUND WORK INCLUDING FOUNDATION EXCAVATION, CONDUIT TRENCHING AND/OR
CONDUIT BORING TO AVOID DAMAGE TO ANY UNDERGROUND UTILITIES. HAND DIGGING MAY
BE REQUIRED IN AREAS WHERE EXISTING UNDERGROUND UTILITIES CONFLICT WITH POLE
FOUNDATION INSTALLATION. UTILITY COMPANIES SHALL BE CONTACTED THROUGH THE
ENGINEER IF PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION CONFLICTS WITH ANY EXISTING UTILITIES. ALL
EXISTING UTILITY INFRASTRUCTURE TO BE PROTECTED AT ALL TIMES THROUGHOUT
CONSTRUCTION.
5. ALL NEW SIGNS SHALL COMPLY WITH THE MUTCD, CITY OF RENTON, AND WASHINGTON
STATE SUPPLEMENT TO THE MUTCD.
6. ALL NEW METAL CONDUITS SHALL BE GROUNDED AND BONDED IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEC
REQUIREMENTS AND WSDOT STANDARD PLAN J-60.05-01 (TYPICAL GROUNDING DETAILS).
7. CONDUIT AND JUNCTION BOX LOCATIONS ARE SCHEMATIC. VERIFY FINAL LOCATIONS WITH
THE ENGINEER PRIOR TO INSTALLATION.
8. NEW JUNCTION BOXES LOCATED WITHIN PEDESTRIAN WALKWAYS SHALL HAVE
SKID -RESISTANT LID SURFACE.
9. PROPOSED CONDUITS PLACED BENEATH ROADWAYS AND SHOULDER AREAS SHALL BE
SCHEDULE 80 PVC. PROPOSED CONDUITS PLACED IN ALL OTHER AREAS SHALL BE SCHEDULE
40 PVC. DIRECTIONAL BORED CONDUITS SHALL BE HDPE.
10. ALL PEDESTRIAN PUSH BUTTONS SHALL BE ACCESSIBLE APS TYPE AND CONFORM TO THE
CONTRACT SPECIFICATIONS. PUSH BUTTONS SHALL BE MOUNTED PER MANUFACTURER'S
SPECIFICATIONS.
11. ALL NEW CONDUCTOR(S) SHALL BE PERMANENTLY LABELED IN EACH JUNCTION BOX,
CABINET, AND TERMINAL CABINET.
12. ALL NEW TRAFFIC SIGNAL HEADS, PEDESTRIAN HEADS, AND PUSH BUTTONS SHALL BE
SECURELY COVERED WHILE NOT IN OPERATION.
13. NEW CONDUITS SHALL SHARE THE SAME TRENCH WITH OTHER NEW UTILITIES WHEREVER
PRACTICABLE.
14. CONTRACTOR SHALL MAINTAIN THE EXISTING OR HIGHER LIGHTING LEVELS UNTIL NEW
FIXTURES ARE INSTALLED AND OPERATIONAL.
15. CONDUIT BENDS AND SWEEPS FOR FIBER CONDUIT RUNS SHALL NOT EXCEED 3-FEET
MINIMUM RADIUS.
16. NUMBER OF CONDUIT BENDS BETWEEN PULL POINTS SHALL BE MORE THAN THE EQUIVALENT
OF FOUR 90 DEGREE BENDS OR 360 DEGREES TOTAL. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH
AND INSTALL ADDITIONAL JUNCTION BOXES AS REQUIRED.
17. SIGNAL POLE AND CABINET FOUNDATIONS SHALL BE CLASS 4000P CONCRETE.
18. ALL PROPOSED SIGNAL POLE FOUNDATIONS SHALL INCLUDE A CONCRETE PAD AROUND THE
FOUNDATION. PROPOSED OR EXISTING SIDEWALK SHALL BE CONSIDERED PART OF THE
FOUNDATION PAD. FOUNDATION PAD SHALL BE AT LEAST 2 FEET OFFSET FROM THE SIGNAL
POLE FOUNDATION, AS SPACE ALLOWS.
19. ALL TRAFFIC SIGNAL SYSTEMS, ILLUMINATION SYSTEMS, OR OTHER ELECTRICAL
TRANSPORTATION SYSTEMS ARE SUBJECT TO INSPECTION BY CITY OF RENTON
TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT PRIOR TO FINAL ACCEPTANCE.
CONTRACTOR TO COORDINATE INSPECTION WITH THE TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS
MAINTENANCE MANAGER OR OTHER TRANSPORTATION OPERATIONS MAINTENANCE
REPRESENTATIVE.
20. CONTRACTOR SHALL COORDINATE TESTING AND PROGRAMMING OF DETECTION CAMERAS
WITH THE CITY OF RENTON.
