Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 02/18/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 0131
hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury hit-and-run collision that occurred at NE 3rd St and Sunset Blvd N.
Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements
referred to have been paraphrased and summarized.
While enroute, dispatch relayed the reporting party/victim was now at Home Depot, 901 S Grady Way.The
suspect vehicle, a small blue or gray pickup truck,was last seen headed south on Interstate 405.
When I arrived at the business, I spoke to the victim,Jeffrey W Darnall (06/24/1991—WA Doff photo). He is
the registered owner of unit 2. In sum, he advised that he was in lane 1 of 3 on NE 3rd St,facing westbound
and in the westbound lanes of travel. In the moments leading up to this incident, he was stopped at the
stoplight at Sunset Blvd N. Immediately next to him in lane 2 was unit 1. Once the light turned green, he
proceeded through the intersection, making a southbound turn. While making the turn, unit 1 struck the
driver's side of his vehicle near the rear quarter panel. Unit 1 then continued southbound and got onto
Interstate 405, all without ever stopping to exchange information.
Jeffrey does not want to press charges for hit-and-run (attended) and only wanted it documented for
insurance purposes.
