EG79287 CASE# 26-1139 DATE OF COLLI r�510NN + 02/09/26 05:43 L1 NARRATIVE #26-1139 Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State of Washington. This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras. This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. On 02/09/2026 at approximately 0545 hours I was dispatched to a non injury, non blocking accident in the Big Foot Java located at 1408 Bronson Way N in the city of Renton, King County, WA. Unit#1 was a white 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 with WA LIC B70727L (VIN: KM8J2CA45LU174687). The driver of unit 1 was the sole occupant and was wearing their seatbelt at the time of the accident. They did not require medical attention. Unit#2 was a maroon 2020 Hyundai Tucson with WA LIC: CDA0790 (VIN: JTNKHMBX6L1072222). The driver of Unit#2 had a front seat passenger and both were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. They did not require medical attention. He did state he may get checked out for lower backpain at urgent care on his own though. Roadway conditions were wet, dark, and raining at the time the collision occurred. Both vehicles were able to move off the roadway under their own power. Unit 2 required a tow truck to take it away from the scene. Driver#1 of Unit#1 stated he was in lane 2 of 4, preparing to turn on to south bound 405 from Bronson Way N. He stated he was behind Unit#2 when the light turned yellow. Unit #2 applied it's brakes to stop at the light and at that moment there was not enough room between the two vehicle and Unit #1 hit Unit#2 in the rear. Driver#2 of Unit#2 stated he was in lane 2 of 4, preparing to turn on to south bound 405 from Bronson Way N. He stated that the light turned yellow and he applied his brakes to come to a stop rather than proceed through the light. He was then hit from behind by Unit#1. Unit#2 had damage to the rear hatch of the vehicle, that included a broken rear window and the bumper partially removed. The driver of Unit#2 was unsure how well his vehicle would operate and requested a tow truck to remove his vehicle from the scene. Pictures of the collision were uploaded to Axon from my department issued cell phone. Both drivers had valid insurance and an exchange of information was provided to each of them. At the conclusion of my investigation, I determined that Unit#1 was the proximate cause of the collision as he did not ensure enough room was between him and the car in front to stop under the current driving conditions. If Unit#1 would have ensured there was enough stopping room in front of him, then this collision likely would not have happened. This concludes my report.
