TELECOMMUNICATION GENERAL NOTES: 1. ALL STRUCTURED CABLING SYSTEM (SCS) & LOW VOLTAGE (LV) CABLING USED THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT MUST COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS AS OUTLINED IN THE STANDARDS, CODES AND LOCAL REGULATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING: ANSI/TIA-568.0-E, 568.1-E, 568.2-E, 568.3-E, 568.4-E, 568.5, ANSI/TIA-569-E, ANSI/TIA-606-E, ANSI/TIA-607-E, ANSI/TIA-758-B, BICSI TDMM (CURRENT VERSION), NEC ARTICLE 90, ARTICLE 300, NEC ARTICLE 645, NEC ARTICLE 646, NEC ARTICLE 725, NEC ARTICLE 760, NEC ARTICLE 770, NEC ARTICLE 800, NEC ARTICLE 830. THE SCS & TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM(S) CABLING MUST MEET ALL LOCAL AND OTHER PREVAILING CODES. 2. ALL SCS & LV CABLING MUST BEAR UL LISTED TYPE CMP (PLENUM RATED). ALL FIBER OPTIC CABLING MUST BEAR OFNP (PLENUM RATED) AND/OR OFNR (RISER RATED) AND/OR OFN/G (GENERAL PURPOSE). THE CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR INSTALLING APPROPRIATELY RATED CABLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH IT IS INSTALLED. 3. ALL INSTALLATION MUST BE DONE IN CONFORMANCE WITH ANSI/TIA-568, STANDARDS AND MANUFACTURER'S INSTALLATION GUIDELINES. THE CONTRACTOR MUST ENSURE THAT THE CABLE'S MINIMUM BEND RADIUS AND MAXIMUM PULLING TENSIONS OF THE SPECIFIED DISTRIBUTION CABLES ARE NOT EXCEEDED. THE CABLE BENDS MUST MAINTAIN THE PROPER RADIUS DURING THE PLACEMENT OF THE CABLING. FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE APPROPRIATE GUIDELINES WILL REQUIRE THE CONTRACTOR TO PROVIDE, IN A TIMELY FASHION, ANY ADDITIONAL MATERIAL AND LABOR NECESSARY TO PROPERLY RECTIFY THE SITUATION TO THE SATISFACTION AND WRITTEN APPROVAL OF THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE. THIS MUST ALSO APPLY TO ANY AND ALL DAMAGES SUSTAINED TO THE CABLES BY THE CONTRACTOR DURING INSTALLATION. 4. ALL SCS AND/OR LV INSTALLATIONS MUST BE PERFORMED BY TECHNICIANS QUALIFIED FOR THAT SYSTEM. THE LABOR EMPLOYED BY THE CONTRACTOR MUST BE REGULARLY EMPLOYED IN THE INSTALLATION AND REPAIR OF SCS AND/OR LV SYSTEMS AND MUST BE ACCEPTABLE TO THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE TO ENGAGE IN THE INSTALLATION AND SERVICE OF THIS SYSTEM. 5. THE MDF AND IDF SPACES ARE DESCRIBED BELOW, AND ENCOMPASS THE AREAS IN WHICH THE COMMUNICATIONS CABLING EXISTS. THESE AREAS INCLUDE (BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO) THE BACKBOARDS, CABINETS, RACKS, FRAMES, LADDER RACKS, TERMINATION FIELDS, AND PATCH CORDS. THE SCS CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR FOLLOWING THE STANDARDS, CODES AND LOCAL REGULATIONS FOR THESE SPACES, (E.G. ANSI/TIA-606, 607, AND 568 SERIES; NFPA 70 AND ALL APPLICABLE NEC ARTICLES; AND BICSI TDMM (CURRENT VERSION). 6. THE WIRING OF THE SYSTEM MUST BE EXECUTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE DRAWINGS AND THE EQUIPMENT MANUFACTURER'S WIRING DIAGRAMS. SHOULD ANY VARIATIONS IN THESE REQUIREMENTS OCCUR, THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOTIFY THE OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE MAKING ANY CHANGES. IT MUST BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR - AUTHORIZED INSTALLER OF THE APPROVED EQUIPMENT TO INSTALL THE EQUIPMENT AND GUARANTEE THE SYSTEM TO OPERATE AS PER PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS. 7. ALL MATERIALS MUST BE NEW. NO USED OR RE -MANUFACTURED PARTS OR COMPONENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. 8. CABLE STORAGE: THE CONTRACTOR MUST NOT ROLL OR STORE CABLE REELS WITHOUT AN APPROPRIATE UNDERLAY AND THE PRIOR WRITTEN APPROVAL OF OWNERS REPRESENTATIVE. 9. SPECIAL EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS: IN ORDER TO ENSURE THE LEAST AMOUNT OF CABLE UNTWISTING, IT IS REQUIRED THAT ALL CABLES MUST BE STRIPPED USING A CABLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOGNIZED SPECIAL TOOL. IT MUST BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR TO FURNISH ANY SPECIAL INSTALLATION EQUIPMENT OR TOOLS NECESSARY TO PROPERLY COMPLETE THE SYSTEM. THIS MAY INCLUDE, BUT IS NOT LIMITED TO, TOOLS FOR TERMINATING CABLES, TESTING AND SPLICING EQUIPMENT FOR COPPER/FIBER CABLES, COMMUNICATION DEVICES, JACK STANDS FOR CABLE REELS, OR CABLE WINCHES. 10. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE ARE "CHANNEL LOCKS" OR OTHER PLIERS NOT DESIGNED BY THE SCS MANUFACTURE BE USED TO TERMINATE JACKS OR INSERTS. B. TELECOMMUNICATION PATHWAY NOTES: 1. PATHWAYS CAN BE DIVIDED UP INTO TWO SEPARATE CATEGORIES, OUTSIDE PLANT (OSP) AND INSIDE PLANT (ISP). IT IS THE SCS AND/OR LV SYSTEM(S) CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO IDENTIFY ALL EXISTING PATHWAYS (CONDUIT, CABLE TRAY, ETC) THAT WILL BE UTILIZED ON THE PROJECT, AND COORDINATE WITH THE ON -SITE ELECTRICAL OR GENERAL CONTRACTOR TO PROVE ALL PATHS SUBJECT TO BE USED ON THIS PROJECT BEFORE INSTALLATION. THE ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE INSTALLATION OF ALL UNDERGROUND (OSP) PATHWAYS, NON -ACCESSIBLE AND OPEN CEILING SPACE PATHWAYS AS DESCRIBED IN SECTION G, CONTRACTOR GUIDELINES OF THESE TELECOMMUNICATION GENERAL NOTES. 2. ALL PULLBOXES MUST BE SIZED AND INSTALLED PER ANSI/TIA-569-E STANDARDS. PULLBOXES FOR IN/UNDER SLAB CONDUIT RUNS ARE NOT PERMITTED UNLESS OTHERWISE NOTED. PULLBOXES FOR OVERHEAD CONDUIT RUNS MUST BE LOCATED ABOVE ACCESSIBLE CEILINGS WITHIN THE ACCESSIBLE CEILING SPACE AND SUPPORTED INDEPENDENTLY FROM THE STRUCTURE AND CONDUIT SUPPORTS. SPLIT CONDUITS IN PLACE OF PULLBOXES ARE UNACCEPTABLE. p. CONDUIT BEND RADIUS MUST BE; • A MINIMUM OF 6 TIMES THE INTERNAL CONDUIT DIAMETER FOR CONDUITS 2" IN DIAMETER OR LESS. • A MINIMUM OF 10 TIMES THE INTERNAL CONDUIT DIAMETER FOR CONDUITS MORE THAN 2" IN DIAMETER. q. ALL CABLES MUST BE PULLED AT THE SAME TIME TO ACHIEVE THE GREATEST FILL LEVELS. r. CONDUIT RUNS SHOULD BE LESS THAN 50 FEET IN LENGTH (REDUCE THE NUMBER OF CABLES BY 15% FOR CONDUIT RUNS BETWEEN 50 AND 100 FEET. s. PULL BOXES SHOULD BE PLACED EVERY 100 FEET OR IF MORE THAN 180 DEGREES OF BENDS ARE INSTALLED IN THE CONDUIT.
