EQUITY COMMISSION
5:30 PM —Tuesday, February 10, 2026

3. STAFF COMMENTS
DCAO Rowland shared that a candidate was just interviewed to fill the youth
position. Staff will be putting forward a recommendation to the mayor for
discussion.
Registration for CERT classes is open and filling fast.
Lunar New Year reception will be held on Monday, February 23 before the
council meeting and proclamation.
4. AUDIENCE COMMENT
Those wishing to address the Equity Commission will be called upon. Each
speaker is allowed three (3) minutes.
5. CONSENT AGENDA
a. Approval of January 13, 2026, meeting minutes

MOVED BY BADDELEY, SECONDED BY IMAOKA TO ACCEPT THE
CONSENT AGENDA. CARRIED
6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS
MOVED BY COHEN, SECONDED BY BADDELEY TO EXCUSE THE
ABSENCE OF COMMISSIONER TANWAR AT THE JANUARY MEETING.
CARRIED
DCAO Rowland is working on a one-pager document for what commissioners do
and expectations that was requested at the last meeting. She will also be working
on a website presence to show the work of the commission.
DCAO Rowland is also working on the bylaws update.
7. NEW BUSINESS
a. Renton PD Policy Overview on Immigration Enforcement

8. COMMITTEE MEMBER COMMENTS
Commissioner Helmer shared his excitement about the Seattle Seahawks Super
Bowl win.
Commissioner Baddeley shared that she participated as a volunteer in a training
drill and received notice of other opportunities in Tukwila (March 9-12) and on the
eastside (March 2-5).
Commissioner Imaoka shared that she has also participated in drills as a non-
English speaking survivor and thinks it's a good experience.
Commissioner Tanwar shared that he participates in a food distribution service
for those in five shelters in King County. DCAO Rowland shared that the
commission will be hearing about our upcoming Behavioral Service Center,
which will include a shelter in the future.
9. COMMITTEE CHAIR COMMENTS
Commissioner Lagow shared that this was a great meeting.
She also shared that King County will be going back to in-office work soon, and
they are located near the federal building, so there is tension.
10. ADJOURNMENT
MOVED BY LAGOW, SECONDED BY COHEN TO ADJOURN THE MEETING.
