CONSTRUCTION NOTES
OCONDUIT SHALL BE INSTALLED AT LEAST 24" BELOW FINISHED GRADE.
O2 FOR SHELTER GROUNDING, TIE 25 FEET OF #4 19 STRANDED GREEN THHN COPPER GROUNDING ELECTRODE
(STRIPPED OF JACKETING) TO THE SHELTER FOUNDATION REBARS WITH TIE WIRES. LEAVE 2 FEET AT THE
END FOR ATTACHMENT TO THE GROUNDING LUG ON THE SHELTER LEG. SEE DETAIL 2.
OTO PROTECT THE GROUND WIRE UNTIL THE SHELTER IS INSTALLED, PLACE THE 2-FT END OF THE #4 COPPER
ELECTRODE INTO THE %4" DIA RGS CONDUIT AS SHOWN IN DETAIL 3. SECURE %4,, RGS CONDUIT IN PLACE.
SEAL THE RGS CONDUIT/COUPLING WITH DUCT TAPE. CAP THE ASSEMBLY WITH A 3" PVC CAP AND FILL VOID
WITH SPRAY -ON FOAM. TOP OF PVC CAP SHALL BE %4" BELOW THE FINISHED CONCRETE.
O4 THE #4 19 STRANDED GREEN THHN COPPER GROUND ELECTRODE SHALL BE ENCLOSED BY AT LEAST 2" OF
CONCRETE IN ACCORDANCE WITH NEC 250.52(A)(3).
OSEE FOUNDATION DETAILS FOR EXACT LOCATION OF THE ELECTRICAL LEG FOR SPECIFIC SHELTER
CONFIGURATIONS.
OPRIOR TO INSTALLING SHELTER, CHIP AWAY THE %" CONCRETE COVER AND REMOVE THE PVC CAP, FOAM
AND DUCT TAPE. THEN PULL OUT THE #4 COPPER ELECTRODE. CONNECT THE ELECTRODE TO THE SHELTER
LEG VIA A GROUNDING LUG. TAKE EVERY PRECAUTION TO PROTECT THE GROUNDING WIRE AND NOT ALLOW
DEBRIS TO ENTER THE CONDUITS. FILL THE VOID OF THE CHIPPED OUT CONCRETE WITH HIGH STRENGTH
GROUT AFTER EXTENDING THE CONDUITS TO THE NEMA BOX.
O7 CONNECT THE #4 WIRE TO THE STAINLESS STEEL %" STUD WITH A BURNDY YA4CTC38. CONTRACTOR SHALL
CLEAN THREADS PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE #4 WIRE.
