EG84706 CASE# 26-1505 OF COLLI ION 02/23/26 16:21 OF COLLISION NARRATIVE On February 24, 2026, at approximately 1621 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non- blocking vehicle collision at the intersection of NE 16th St and Edmonds Ave NE, within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, and State of Washington. Upon my arrival, I confirmed there were no injuries. While on scene, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the collision. The driver of Unit#1, identified as Cruz Ponce, said he was traveling eastbound on NE 16th St and had approached the stop-sign at Edmonds Ave NE. Cruz stated that he was intending to make a left turn at the intersection to proceed northbound onto Edmonds Ave NE. While yielding to traffic, he saw Unit#2 go north passed NE 16th St. He believed traffic was clear and began to turn out into the roadway. When Cruz proceeded forward, he failed to notice Unit#2 was also making a left turn on NE 16th St. Cruz struck Unit#2's drivers side doors. Unit#1 sustained damage to the front bumper and passenger front fender. The driver of Unit#2, identified as Peter D. Duane, said he was the sole occupant of his vehicle and was traveling northbound on Edmonds Ave NE approaching NE 16th St where Unit#1 was located. Peter stated he was intending to make a left turn onto NE 16th St. Peter told me that upon reaching the intersecting driveway, Unit#1 failed to yield to his vehicle at the intersection. Peter was unable to avoid the collision and subsequently Unit #1 collided with his driver's side doors causing significant damage. Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Cruz) is the proximate cause for the cause of collision as he did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway and underway. Cruz violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or junction of roadways. I cited Cruz for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision. He was also issued another infraction, operating a motor vehicle without insurance. Both vehicles appeared to be drivable. An exchange of information was provided to all involved parties.
