Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 03/14/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1947
hours, I was dispatched to a hit and run collision to be handled via phone contact.All photos referenced were
uploaded to the case file via AXON Capture.
Prior to contacting the reporting party, I learned the collision occurred in the 2800 block of NE Sunset Blvd.
The single involved vehicle and suspect fled the scene shortly after.
I contacted the reporting party by phone and verbally identified him as Jorge A Gomez-Duarte (09/10/1993). 1
gathered the following from our conversation:
He explained that he was driving eastbound on NE Sunset Blvd behind a silver 2016 Ford Fiesta (WA
lic/CUU6067).The vehicle was driving erratically prior to the collision, as it was swerving into other
lanes of travel. In the 2800 block, near Jack in the Box (2813 NE Sunset Blvd),the vehicle went up onto
the center median and struck a crosswalk sign, knocking it over.Jorge followed the vehicle until it
turned into the driveway at 3310 NE Sunset Blvd. He parked his own vehicle nearby and walked over
to the residence to capture a photo of the suspect vehicle's license plate.
I responded to the call location and observed that the sign had since been moved to the foliage that lined the
north sidewalk of the 2800 block of NE Sunset Blvd. I observed some small debris in the center median where
the collision occurred. None of that appeared to be from a vehicle.
I completed a City of Renton Origami form for the damaged sign.
The purpose of this initial report is to document the damage to city property.A supplemental narrative will be
drafted once follow-up investigation is completed. It should be noted that a similar collision was reported on
03/09/2026 in the same location (Renton Police Case 26-1860). While the circumstances surrounding these
cases are similar,they are in fact two separate incidents.
