NARRATIVE
On 03/13/2026, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately
0203 hours, officers were dispatched to an unknown injury collision near the High Dive Bar and Grill
at 2621 NE Sunset Blvd, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington.
Later investigation revealed that this was a blocking accident. Dispatch advised that a caller reported
hearing what sounded like a collision in the area.
As I was driving to the call location, dispatch updated that the caller could now see a red truck in front
of the location, blocking both lanes headed down the hill. He also mentioned that the driver of the
vehicle was going in and out of the red truck.
When I arrived, I was able to locate the vehicle involved. I identified the vehicle at this time as Unit 1,
as listed above, and it was the sole vehicle involved in this incident. I also identified the driver at this
time as listed above.
Unit 1's front end was facing northbound in the westbound lanes of NE Sunset Blvd in front of the
dispatch location. Unit 1 was also perpendicular in the roadway, blocking all westbound lanes.
I was able to speak to the driver and sole occupant of Unit 1. He explained the following:
The driver of Unit 1 stated he was headed westbound on NE Sunset Blvd, approaching the
intersection at Harrington Ave NE. He explained that while descending the hill and negotiating the
curve, he lost control of his vehicle. According to the driver, the front end of Unit 1 collided with a tree
on the north side of the roadway. The driver stated that after hitting the tree, Unit 1 deflected back
onto NE Sunset Blvd, blocking the road.
It should be noted that the current conditions around the time of the accident were dark, snowing, and
slick. The roadway that Unit 1 was traveling on was slightly downhill and curved.
I took a look around Unit 1. 1 noticed that the entire front end of the vehicle was smashed in. I also
noticed that the rear tires of the vehicle had minimal treads. I also saw that the airbags inside the
vehicle had deployed.
I saw Unit 1's driver had blood on one hand but reported no specific injuries. Aid was called to
evaluate him.
Gene Meyers tow eventually arrived at the location and took possession of Unit 1.
The driver of Unit 1 left the location with Gene Meyer.
The driver of Unit 1 was provided with an exchange of information sheet with the associated case
number for his records.
Associated photos were uploaded to Evidence.com to be added to the case file.
