King County 2026-2031 Parks Levy
Levy Overview:
•Voters approved Proposition 1 in Aug '25
•Collections of $0.2329 per $1,000 of assessed valuation in the first year, with annual adjustments up
•Supports O&M of King County’s system; acquisition, development of parks, recreation facilities, and regional trails; improvements to parks and trails in local jurisdictions;Woodland Park Zoo
and Seattle Aquarium; Seattle’s Waterfront Park; Pacific Science Center;
Seattle Memorial Stadium; and capital improvements at publicly owned pools.
Renton Receives:
•A municipal parks capital and open space
pass-through allocation of $1,950,000
•Annual levy distributions as part* of the
ten percent (10%) of total levy proceeds
dedicated to towns, cities, and eligible
park districts
•Regional Trail Investments
•Grant Funds (possibly)
* Part determined using formula that includes base
allocations, population thresholds, population share, and
assessed valuation
