NARRATIVE
On March 09, 2026, at approximately 1404 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking
vehicle collision at the intersection of Bronson Way N and Garden Ave N, within the City Limits of
Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
Upon my arrival, I confirmed that no one sustained any injuries requiring medical assistance. While
on scene, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the
events leading up to the collision.
The driver of Unit#1, identified as Stephen Maina, said he was facing southbound on Garden Ave N
at the intersection of Bronson Way N. Stephen stated that he was intending to make a left turn at the
intersection to proceed eastbound on Bronson Way N. He said that he stopped at the intersection to
yield to moving traffic. He believed traffic was clear and began to turn out into the roadway but failed
to see Unit#2. Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 collided in the roadway causing significant damage to the
doors located on the left side of Unit#1.
The driver of Unit#2, identified as Blanca Renteria-Delgado, said she was the sole occupant of her
vehicle and was stopped on Bronson Way N facing westbound. Blanca was stopped in traffic, but had
created a gap in traffic for vehicles attempting to complete their turns from Garden Ave N. While
stopped, Unit#1 failed to yield to her vehicle at the intersection. Blanca said Stephen looked right but
failed to look left. Stephen drove into front bumper. Blanca said she was stopped, so she was unable
to avoid the collision. Unit#1 causing significant damage to the front of Unit#2.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Stephan) is the proximate
cause for the cause of collision as he did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway
and underway. He violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an
intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting
roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any
vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an
immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or
junction of roadways.
I cited Stephan via mail for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision.
Blanca was unable to provide proof of insurance, so she was cited for operating a motor vehicle
without insurance.
Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were driven away without further issues. An exchange of information was
provided to all involved parties.
