Narrative
Unit 1 was traveling eastbound in the 2900 block of NE 3rd ST in the left lane. Unit 2 was
traveling eastbound in the 2900 block of NE 3rd ST in the right lane. Unit 1 and 2 were both
approaching a red light and slowing down. Unit 1 was slightly behind Unit 2. Unit 1 attempted to
merge into the right lane,while merging Unit 1 failed to stop and rear-ended unit 2. Both units
claimed they were going around 25mph
Unit 1 had minor front bumper damage, but the vehicle was still operable. Unit 2 had minor rear
bumper damage and was still operable. Unit 1 reported no injuries. Unit 2 had no visible injuries
but stated she felt dizzy. She was evaluated by the Fire Department and not transported to the
hospital.
I find that the proximate cause of the collision was unit 1's inattention to the vehicle slowing
down in front of him.
