NARRATIVE

On March 16, 2026, at approximately 1233 hours, I was dispatched to a two vehicle collision at the
intersection of S 3rd St and Main Ave S within the City Limits of Renton, County of King, State of
Washington.
Upon my arrival, 1 confirmed there were no complaints of injury requiring immediate medical response
at the time of report. There, I was able to collect each involved party's information and independent
summary of the events leading up to the collision.
The driver of Unit#1, identified as Syed J. Hyder, said he was traveling northbound on Main Ave S
and approaching the intersection of S 3rd St in the right turn lane (lane 1 of 2). Syed stated that he
needed to get into the left lane (lane 2 of 2). Syed told me he initiated his lane change by turning on
his left turn signal and noticed that Unit#2 was a distance away behind him. Syed stated that while
making the lane change, Unit#1 and Unit#2 collided in lane 2 causing moderate damage to the
driver's side bumper and fender of Unit#1.
The driver of Unit#2, identified as Arianna Riccio, said he was accompanied by two passengers and
was also traveling northbound on Main Ave S approaching the intersection of S 3rd St in lane 2 of 2.
Arianna stated he can either go straight or turn right. Arrianna was intending to turn right onto S 3rd
St. When she reached S 3rd St, Unit#1 changed lanes from lane 1 of 2 and into lane 2 of 3 which
Unit#2 was occupying. Arrana was unable to avoid the collision and Unit#1 subsequently collided
with Unit#2. Unit#2 suffered damage to the front passenger fender, doors, wheels, and rear quarter
panel due to the collision.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit#1 (Syed) is the proximate cause
for the cause of collision as he violated RCW 46.61.140(1) which states that a vehicle shall be driven
as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not be moved from such lane until the
driver has first ascertained that such movement can be made with safety. Syed made a lane change
into Unit#2's lane of travel which had the right of way and was underway.
I cited Syed for Improper Lane Usage causing a collision.
Both Unit#1 and Unit#2 were driven away without further issues. An exchange of information was
provided to all involved parties.
