EG91479 CASE# 26-2548 OF COLLISION 04/01/26 22:50 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE 26-2548 Unless stated otherwise, this incident occurred in the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. During this incident, I was on duty as a Police Officer for the City of Renton and assigned to Patrol District R12. I was wearing a fully marked uniform and driving a fully marked vehicle. This incident was recorded with video and audio. It is important to note that the camera may have captured things that I did not perceive, and I may have perceived things that were not captured by the camera. The following is a summary of the events: On 04/01/2026 at approximately 2257 hours, I was dispatched to a collision at the 300 block of S 43rd St. For context, this is the bridge over SR-167. Upon arrival, I observed Unit 1 facing eastbound partially in lane one and partially on the sidewalk. There was heavy damage all along the right side and rear of Unit 1. Unit 1 was also missing its rear right tire. I observed numerous large logs in Unit 1's truck bed and scattered on the ground. The guard rail on the bridge was also damaged and partially dislodged. It appeared that Unit 1 collided with the guard rail. Driver 1 claimed that he was driving westbound in lane two when an unidentified vehicle veered head -on into his lane. Driver 1 steered right to avoid the oncoming vehicle, tried to steer left back into his lane, and overcorrected. Driver 1 lost control, spun into the eastbound lanes, and ultimately jumped the curb and collided with the guard rail. I took photos of the scene and later uploaded them to Evidence.com. Driver 1 agreed to conduct field sobriety tests. I conducted the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, and I did not observe any clues. Due to the sloped and wet road, Officers opted to not conduct the Walk and Turn or the One Leg Stand. Gene Meyer Towing ultimately towed the vehicle. Driver 1 did not have a valid license and did not have insurance for the vehicle. Unit 1 also had expired registration. And lastly, several logs were scattered in the road from the collision. I am issuing Driver 1: Infraction #6A0111361 for RCW 46.30.020 - OPERATING MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE, RCW 46.20.015 - NO VALID OPERATOR'S LICENSE WITH VALID ID, RCW 46.16A.030.5.0 - FAIL TO RENEW EXPIRED REGISTRATION > 2 MONTHS, and RCW 46.61.655.7C - FAIL TO SECURE LOAD. WSDOT responded and assessed the damage. WSDOT Technicians were unable to provide an estimate for the damages. WSDOT Technicians advised that the bridge was still safe.
