The City of Renton – Parks and Recreation Department, is soliciting Statements of Qualifications
(SOQs) from interdisciplinary teams to provide professional services for the May Creek Trail Bank
Stabilization Project. The site is owned by the City and is located at approximately 4260 Lake
Washington Blvd. N., Renton, WA 98056.
An approximately 30-ft length of the northern creek bank along May Creek adjacent to the May
Creek Trail experienced erosion during a February 2020 flood event and remains unstable. The
instability threatens the May Creek Trail and nearby park infrastructure. May Creek supports
multiple fish species and is classified as a Type S – Shoreline of the State. The project area is subject
to shoreline, floodplain, and sensitive area regulations. The trail is currently open to the public. The
City is pursuing FEMA Public Assistance funding to support design and construction of bank
stabilization improvements.
Improvement Objectives:
•Identify the causes and extent of erosion and instability along the May Creek bank and
assess risks to the trail and adjacent park infrastructure.
•Develop and evaluate bank stabilization alternatives that address slope stability, habitat
protection, regulatory constraints, constructability, and cost, and recommend a preferred
solution.
•Design and implement a permitted, constructible bank stabilization project that protects
public infrastructure, supports ecological function, and meets FEMA funding requirements,
with an emphasis on long-term resilience and regulatory compliance.
The interdisciplinary team should comprise consultants with demonstrated expertise in site
investigation and surveying, permitting, design and engineering, and construction administration,
with the capacity to support the project through all phases of delivery.
Statement of Qualifications Due Date:
Proposals are due by May 19, 2026 at 12:00 PM (Noon).
SOQs shall be submitted via email in a PDF format to the Project Representative, listed below.
