RE: Shoreline letter of exemption/Project Narrative;
Shoreline Staff:
Please see attached application for a shoreline letter of exemption along with dock and site plan
information. The exemption is requested for the normal maintenance and repair of an existing
dock owned by Timothy and Cynthia Bovey at their home at 3007 Mountain View Ave N on
Lake Washington. The subject property is zoned R-8 as are adjacent properties. The area is low
bank/existing urban shoreline type development with high density residential uses. According to
the King County Assessor’s database the property is 28,097 SF (.65 acre)
The dock has fallen into disrepair and is in need of periodic maintenance. The repair work
includes replacing the existing dock framing with ACZA treated fir beams (4” x 8” and 6” x 8”).
The existing wooden decking would be replaced with ThruFlow grated panels. Piles would be
sleeved with HDPE tubes as shown on page 2 of the attached plans.
The owners are requesting permission from the City to do the repair under the shoreline
exemption criteria of WAC 173-27-040(2)(b). No impervious surfaces are to be added and no
land disturbance or fill/dredge is proposed. As no expansion or new impacts are proposed, we are
requesting a waiver from the Grading Plan requirement, the Stream or Lake Assessment
Narrative, and the Flood and Habitat Data Reports. If you have any questions or would like any
