The following occurred in the City of Renton, King County, Washington unless otherwise stated.
During this incident 1 was equipped with body-worn camera which records both audio and video.
Portions of the incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not
intended to be an exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured
with the recording system. During this incident I was wearing a department issued uniform or jump
suit and outer carrier vest which was marked with "Police"on the front, "Renton Police"on the
back, with department patches on each shoulder of the uniform or jumpsuit, as well as a Renton
Police Velcro badge on my►eft chest. It would be immediately obvious to any reasonable person
that I was a Police Officer.
On 4/22/2026 at 0802 hours I was dispatched to a hit and run collision that occurred at the
intersection of SW 43rd St and East Valley Rd.
The driver of Unit 2 was identified as Derrick 0. Watts (DOB: 08/31/1994) by MS CDL. Unit 2 is a 2016
Peterbilt (MS LP: A539953) that was hauling an empty trailer (MS LP: 152914A).
Unit 1 and Driver 1 fled the scene and were not identified. Unit 1 is described as a black Ford E350
type vehicle with a homemade cargo box affixed to the rear of the vehicle. There is no description of
Driver 1.
Driver 2 stated that he was stopped facing North on East Valley Rd at SW 43rd St in the #1 lane
preparing to perform a righthand turn to proceed East on SW 43rd St. Driver 2 stated that Unit 1 was
in the#2 lane of East Valley Rd and was proceeding straight ahead.
Driver 2 stated that as Unit 1 passed, it crossed into his lane and the passenger side of Unit 1 collided
with the drivers side mirror of Unit 2 causing minor damage.
Driver 2 stated that he does not wish to be a victim of the crime of hit and run and only wanted to
report the incident for his companies insurance purposes.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.
