Door(s) Rear Collision 2026-00003085 Paqe 3 OF 5 Case Number 2026-00003085 Officer Narrative Narrative 26-03085 Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of Washington. On 04/22/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 2206 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury, non-blocking motor vehicle collision at the intersection of 108th Ave SE and SE 180th St. Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements referred to have been paraphrased and summarized. There was over a half an hour delay between the call's inception and when I was dispatched. Since no injuries or disabled vehicles were reported, I elected to approach this call with phone contact. I called the reporting party,who I later identified as the driver of unit 3. He informed me that he was in lane 3 of 3 (far left) on 108th Ave SE,facing southbound at the above intersection. His vehicle was stationary as the stoplight at the intersection was red. While waiting for the right of way, his vehicle was struck by unit 2,which was previously struck by unit 1.After all vehicles were moved off the roadway,the driver of unit 1 advised they did not have insurance.That driver stuck around momentarily before fleeing the scene without providing insurance information, claiming they needed to pick up their child. The driver of unit 2 was standing nearby, so I requested to speak with him next. He provided a similar account, stating that he was directly behind unit 3,waiting for the right of way.The rear of his vehicle was struck by unit 1,which caused the front end of unit 2 to collide with the rear of unit 3. He reported that he also did not have insurance. The reporting party advised they captured a slew of photos and videos documenting the collision. I sent him an AXON Citizen Link to upload the footage, which they later did. Notably, his submission includes dashcam footage from unit 3.The only discrepancy I could tell was that all vehicles may have actually been in lane 2, rather than lane 3.There is also a photo of the driver's license for the driver of unit 1. Based on the involved parties' stories, unit 1 was the proximate cause of the collision. Both units 2 and 3 were stationary in the moments leading up to the collision, as required by the red traffic signal. Unit 1 failed to stop in time, resulting in a collision.
