CALL TO ORDER The regular Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meeting for March 17, 2026 was called to order at 3:08 p.m. 2. ROLL CALL Committee Members Present: Staff Members Present: Chelsea Stone, Chair Aliena Nu'ulani, Parks& Recreation Admin. Secretary Kent Hay, Human Services Director Leslie Anderson Lori Fleming, Human Services Coordinator Marjan Didra Lauren McGuire, Parks& Rec. Exec Admin. Valentine Portolano Tania Thomas, Parks& Recreation Admin Secretary Committee Members Absent: Guests: Alexis Tran Fred Capestany Elizabeth Larson,Vice-Chair 3. AUDIENCE/ PUBLIC COMMENT None. 4. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a) The minutes from the November 18, 2025 and February 17, 2026 Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) meetings were approved. 5. NEW BUSINESS b) HSAC Membership update/ Potential new member The Renton Human Services Advisory Committee (HSAC) has four vacancies. An interview process was done last year to fill a vacancy, and Fred Capestany was selected to be appointed. He was introduced at the meeting, HSAC members asked him questions, and they unanimously recommended his appointment to the Committee. Brief discussion occurred on potentially reducing the HSAC membership from eleven to nine members in the future to be more in line with other local cities, who have seven or nine members. a) Mavor Pavone Introduction Mayor Armondo Pavone stopped by the meeting to introduce himself and thank the members for their time and commitment to the community. Human Services Advisory Committee Meeting March 17, 2026 Page 2 of 2 c) 2027-2028 Aqplication Process Discussion The 2027-2028 human services funding application process opened March 2, 2026 with applications due April 6, 2026 through the SharelApp portal. Two Funders Workshops were held in early March and Renton will be having three drop-in assistance sessions in mid-late March. Renton is planning to increase City provided outreach and housing stabilization services, so applications supporting that and Renton focused are prioritized. Committee agreed to assign a funding percent goal to the two priority areas after applications were received. A proposed one-page simplified Rating Tool for application scoring was presented to the Committee. They were asked to review the proposed Rating Tool and provide comments/revisions prior to the next meeting. d) Other/Info Sharin� Upcoming events include the Volunteer Appreciation Event on April 14, 2026, Renton State of the City Address on March 25, 2026; and various agency events. The Renton Senior Activity Center will be closed from April 15 to September 15, 2026 for roofing, HVAC, siding improvements, with activities moved to other city facilities. Discussed how HSAC members would like information about non-funded Agency fundraising events that were emailed to them via the City, and they agreed that mentioning them at HSAC meetings would be preferred. 6.
