Officer Narrative
Narrative
Unit 1 was traveling westbound in the 1700 blk of NE 3rd ST, in the left#2 lane just before several
additional lanes open up westbound, but in this portion there are only 2 lanes of westbound
traffic. Unit 2 was traveling westbound in the 1700 blk of NE 3rd ST in the right#1 lane. Unit 1
attempted to change lanes to the right, into lane#1 occupied by Unit 2.
There was dispute as to how this occurred in regards to when Unit 2 came to occupy lane#1.
Based on the physical damage however, Unit 2 was established in the right lane#1.
As Unit 1 changed lanes to the right, the front passenger tire area of Unit 1 impacted the front
driver's tire area of Unit 2 causing minor damage to both vehicles.
Driver 1 failed to assure that the lane change to the right could be done safely, and initiated this
Lane change which resulted in the collision and was the proximate cause.
This incident occurred in the sCity of Renton,King County,Washington State.
