EG97124 CASE# 26-3147 OF COLLISION 04/22/26 22:09 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 04/22/2026, 1 was working uniformed patrol in a marked police car as 3R23. At approximately 2209 hours, officers were dispatched to an injury accident at Sunset Blvd NE at the 1-405N on-ramp, which is located within the city limits of Renton, County of King, Washington. Dispatch advised that a caller reported a 2-vehicle accident at the location with injuries involved. I arrived at the call location and was able to locate the accident. I located and identified both Unit 1 and Unit 2 as described above. Unit 1 was facing northbound in the southwest-bound lanes of travel, somewhat perpendicular to the roadway, as if the driver was headed toward the adjacent 1405 NB on- ramp. Unit 2 was facing southwest bound in the southwest-bound lanes of travel with its front end resting on the front passenger bumper area of Unit 1. Other officers who arrived before me went to speak to the driver of Unit 1. He was the sole occupant and identified as listed above. Other officers relayed the following information to me: Unit 1 explained that he was traveling northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the northbound 1405 NB on-ramp. Unit 1 continued to cross past the southwestbound lanes of travel to continue onto the on-ramp. Unit 2 was headed southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE at the same time as Unit 1 was attempting to cross the southwestbound lanes of Sunset Blvd NE to continue on the on- ramp. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front of Unit 1. Unit 1 stated that he was not wearing his seatbelt. Unit 1 also stated he had some head pain and ankle pain. I took a look around Unit 1 and saw that the entire front of the vehicle was significantly damaged and inoperable. I was then able to speak to the driver of Unit 2. 1 identified him as the sole occupant as listed above. My conversation with the driver of Unit 2 is summarized as follows: Unit 2 stated he was heading southwestbound on Sunset Blvd NE approaching the 1405 NB on-ramp. He stated that Unit 1 had entered the intersection attempting to quickly drive through to head onto 1405 NB, at the same time, the driver of Unit 2 was continuing straight down Sunset Blvd NE. Unit 2 stated he attempted to slow down, but was unable. This resulted in the front end of Unit 2 colliding with the front side of Unit 1. Unit 2 stated that he was wearing his seatbelt. Unit 2 also reported chest pain as a result of the incident. I took a look around Unit 2 and saw that the entire front end of the vehicle was also significantly damaged and appeared inoperable. The fire department arrived a short time later and evaluated all parties for injuries. It should be noted that traffic headed northeastbound on Sunset Blvd NE onto the 1405 NB on-ramp had a yield sign just prior to crossing into the opposite lanes of traffic on Sunset Blvd NE. Based on the fact that Unit 1 did not grant right of way to Unit 2 before entering the intersection to continue onto the 1405 NB on-ramp and the fact that Unit 1 was required to yield to opposing traffic as indicated by the yield sign at the location, I found that there is reasonable cause to cite the driver of Unit 1 for RCW 46.61.190-Failure to yield at yield sign/intersection. SECTOR citation 6A0159145 was completed and sent to the prosecuting attorney's office to mail to the driver of Unit 1. 1 also completed a SECTOR collision for this incident. Both drivers of Units 1 and 2 were medically transported from the location to the hospital. Unit 1 and Unit 2 were towed by Bankers from the location with other officers at the location completing tow/impound forms for each vehicle. Based on the circumstances described above, it appears that Unit 1 is the proximate cause of the collision. This concludes my report.
