Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 04/28/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1833
hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury, non-blocking motor vehicle collision at Rainier Ave S and S 3rd St.
Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements
referred to have been paraphrased and summarized.
I contacted the involved parties in the parking lot at Chick Fil-A, 375 Rainier Ave S.The driver of unit 2 told me
that he was stopped in lane 3 of 4 for the stoplight,just north of the dispatched intersection. He was the first
vehicle in line. While waiting for the right of way,the front of unit 1 suddenly struck the rear of his vehicle.
The driver of unit 1 told me that he was distracted by a cup of water that spilled, which led to the collision,
which played out in a manner identical to how it was described by the other driver.
I observed that the rear window of unit 2 was shattered as a result of the collision.There was also damage to
the rear bumper. Unit 1 sustained little to no damage. I captured photos of both vehicles and uploaded them
to the case file via AXON Capture.
