NARRATIVE
On 05/02/2026, at approximately 0607 hours, I was dispatched to an accident at S 26th ST and
Shattuck CT S, in the City of Renton, while I was employed as a uniformed Patrol Officer for the City
of Renton, County of King, State of Washington.
I spoke with Unit#1, and he advised that he was traveling on S 26th St and Shattuck CT ST, heading
northbound. He stated he was getting out of work, as he works for Apple as a technician. His work
schedule last night was from 1800 to 0400 hours this morning. It was mentioned that he was released
late from work for work-related reasons. While he was driving home, near his house on S 26th ST, he
said his vehicle kept steering left even when he manually steered right. It was said that as he tried to
keep turning his steering wheel to the right, the vehicle kept going left. Moments after, he collided
with Unit#2 while it was parked on the west side of the curb. Unit#1 then got out of his vehicle and
knocked on Unit#2's house to notify them about the accident.
Unit#1 claimed no injuries. The vehicle did reach the damage threshold. Damage to the front bumper
and the driver's tire was completely flat. I observed the steering wheel and noticed it was in the right-
turn position. However, when 1 looked at the tires, they were facing the curb, as if they were turning
left. The vehicle was towed by Bankers at the driver's request.
Unit#1 agreed to do the SFST, for which there was no evidence of impairment.
I spoke with Unit#2, and she advised that she did not see anything but only heard a loud crash
outside. Her vehicle had heavy damage to the rear bumper. The vehicle did reach the damage
threshold. The car was not towed at Unit#2's request; it was parked in front of their house and did not
block the roadway.
Photos were taken and uploaded as evidence.
