NARRATIVE
26-3275
Unless otherwise noted, the following happened within the City Limits of Renton, County of King,
State of Washington.
On 04/27/26 at approximately 2151 hours I arrived on scene of a 2 motor vehicle collision in the 900
block Sunset Ave NE. There were no injuries. There was heavy damage to both vehicles. Unit#1 and
Unit#2 both had damage on the front driver side of their vehicles.
The driver of Unit#1 stated that they were driving north on Sunset Blvd N. Unit#2 was driving south
on Sunset Blvd N. As they approached Aberdeen Ave NE they claimed that Unit#2 came to a
complete stop in the south bound lane. Since they were stopped Unit#1 attempted to turn west onto
Aberdeen. Unit#2 then began driving south again and they collided as Unit#1 was turning. On
clarification the driver of Unit#1 said that Unit#2 did not stop but slowed down almost to a stop
before they tried to make their turn. They claimed they had their turn signal on. The driver of Unit#1
had received their driver's license on 04/24/26 and this was their second day driving.
The driver of Unit#2 told me that they were driving south on Sunset Blvd N approaching Aberdeen
Ave NE. As they neared the intersection Unit#1, who was driving north, turned west in front of them.
They did not use their turn signal when turning. Unit#2 tried to avoid Unit#1 but could not brake in
time and the vehicles collided, front driver side to front driver side.
I gave a copy of the exchange of information to both drivers. Both cars were towed away from the
scene privately by Gene Meyer towing.
The driver of Unit#1 was the proximate cause of the accident. Whether or not Unit#2 stopped or
slowed down they still had the right of way to continue south. Unit#1 initiated a turn in front of them
without enough time and distance to complete the turn safely.
