OF COLLISION
NARRATIVE
26-3376
Unless otherwise noted, the following happened within the City Limits of Renton, County of King,
State of Washington.
On 05/01/26 at approximately 2322 hours I was dispatched to an unknown injury accident at NE
Sunset Blvd and Newport Ave NE. The vehicles were blocking the east bound lanes on NE Sunset
Blvd. Officer A. Irco arrived on scene first and determined that there were no injuries.
The driver of Unit#1 told me that they were at the traffic light before the Walgreens at NE Sunset Blvd
and NE 10th St in lane 1. Unit# 2 was in lane 2 driving the same direction. Unit#2 was turning left
into the Chevron and hit the back of Unit#1 with the trailer they were towing. Then Unit#1 was
apparently dragged by the trailer and then pushed up onto the side walk on the south side of NE
Sunset Blvd. Unit#2 then used their front bumper and made contact with Unit#1's rear bumper and
pushed it up onto the sidewalk. The driver of Unit#1 then clarified the story to say that after the light
at Walgreens at NE 12th St and NE Sunset Blvd they were eastbound in lane 2 and Unit#2 sped past
them in lane 1, swerved into their lane and hit them on the right side with the trailer. Unit#1 went into
the center turn lane. Unit#2 then maybe hit Unit#1 again with the trailer and "PIT maneuvered" them
causing them to end up on the sidewalk on the south side of the street and that is when Unit#2
pushed them on the rear bumper with their front bumper and then reversed to where they were when
we arrived.
The driver of Unit#2 told me that they were driving east bound in lane 2 on NE Sunset Blvd from NE
12th St. They showed me a video on their phone of Unit#1 being in front of them at the light in lane 1.
Then Unit#1 pulled up on their left in the center turn lane as they approached Newport Ave NE. They
tried to cut Unit#2 off. Unit#2 attempted to change lanes into lane 1 to avoid being hit. Unit#1 hit
Unit#2 on the driver's door and then lost control and ended up on the sidewalk where they were
when we arrived.
The driver of Unit#2 and Unit#1 know each other. KCSO office put out a BOLO for Unit#1 in relation
to a homicide in late March. The driver of Unit#1 said they just received it back from evidence
impound. It still had the evidence tape on some of the doors. The driver of Unit#2 showed me
another video on their phone of someone breaking out the windows to his car parked near 1429
Jefferson Ave NE. He believes it was the driver of Unit#1's boyfriend but does not know his name.
The driver of Unit#2's pregnant wife told me that apparently the driver of Unit#2 promised to fix a car
for the Driver of Unit#1 and give it to them. This ended up falling through and they believe that the
Driver of Unit#1 struck their vehicle on purpose in retaliation. Please see Renton PD case 26-2023
for more information. The driver of Unit#1 told officer Irco that they believe the driver of Unit#2 hit
them on purpose. The driver of Unit#1 and #2 both wanted to be victims of assault if it can be
determined that the other struck them on purpose.
The driver of Unit#1 was very animated and had an inconsistent story. The driver of Unit#2 was
very calm about the situation. I would find it unusual that they would intentionally hit another car while
their pregnant wife is in the passenger seat. The damage to Unit#1 was on the front passenger side.
There was no visible damage to the rear bumper. Unit#2 had damage to the driver's door but no
damage on the front bumper. There was some fresh looking scrapes on the driver side wheel well of
the trailer but it was difficult to tell.
The driver of Unit#1 was the proximate cause of the accident. Based on what I could see the story of
Unit#2 makes more sense. Pushing a 5,000lbs Hummer up a sidewalk with no damage to either
bumper seems unlikely to me. The damage on the front driver door of Unit#2 is consistent with the
damage on the front passenger side on Unit#1 in Unit#2's version of events. The damage to Unit#1
does not explain the damage to Unit#2 in their version of events. I am not aware of any cameras
nearby that may have caught the incident. Officer Irco took pictures of the accident scene.
Please forward this case to Traffic Investigations.
I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the state of Washington that the foregoing
is true and correct.
