Narrative
During this incident, I was equipped with a body-worn camera, which records both audio and video. Portions
of this incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an
exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system.
was operating a fully marked Police Tahoe#309 which was equipped with overhead emergency lights and
sirens. I was also wearing my department issued Renton Police uniform clearly identifies me as a Police
Officer.

On 05/11/2026 at approximately 1831 hours I was dispatched to a non-injury collision at NE 3rd St and Sunset
Blvd N, within the City of Renton, King County,Washington.
I identified unit 1 in this collision as a 2006 Nissan Murano (WA/LIC: CNJ6838 VIN#JN8AZ08W96W544493)
which was driven by Thu Phoung T Nguyen (DOB 04/21/1967). Unit 1 sustained minor damage to the front
end.
I identified unit 2 as a 2026 Mitsubishi Outlander(WA/LIC: CVT8539 VIN#JA4ARUAUOTUO18606) which was
driven by Michael J Hart (DOB 04/20/1976). Unit 2 sustained minor damage to the drivers side.
Unit 2 was pulling out of the parking lot located at 251 Sunset Blvd N. Unit 2 was attempting to make a left
turn onto N 3rd St. Unit 2 advised that eastbound travel of N 3rd St had stopped to allow him to pull out into
traffic.As Unit 2 proceeded across the eastbound lanes he advised that unit 1 who was traveling eastbound
swerved around the stopped vehicles, came into oncoming lanes, and struck the drivers side of his vehicle.
Unit 2 advised that he believed unit 1 did not know why traffic was stopped and that was why she went into
oncoming lanes to pass the stopped vehicles.
Unit 1 advised me that unit 2 "came out of nowhere" but did not have much further on what she meant by
this.
It seems the proximate cause of this collision was unit 1 illegally passing the stopped cars by going into
oncoming traffic which prevented her from seeing unit 2 who was pulling out onto the roadway.
