MUNICIPAL CODE RMC-10-10-12 Overnight Parking of Certain Vehicles Prohibited SECTIONS:
REFERENCE: Ordinance No. 3428 and Ordinance No. 4271
SUBJECT: Code Cites Zones No Longer in Use
BACKGROUND: This chapter was amended in 1990. It states that certain types of vehicles (trailers, buses, and commercial trucks) cannot be parked overnight in specified residential zones. The zones the Code currently cites are: SR-1, SR-2, R-1 through R-4, T, and G. Staff located a copy of Title IV that was the implementing code in June of 1991. Attached is more detail about the zones. All the zones are associated with exclusively residential use, both single family and multifamily, of varying densities.
DECISION: The applicable Code section should be amended to reference current zones as specified below.
JUSTIFICATION: The Code should cite zones that are currently used in the City.

PROCESS: To appeal this determination, a written appeal accompanied by the required filing fee must be filed with the City's Hearing Examiner (1055 South Grady Way, Renton, WA 98057, 425-430-6551) no more than 14 days from the date of this decision. Section 4-8-110 of the Renton Municipal Code provides further information on the appeal process. CHAPTER 10 - PARKING REGULATIONS 10-10-12 OVERNIGHT PARKING OF CERTAIN VEHICLES PROHIBITED: It shall henceforth be is unlawful to park within any residential zone (SR-1, SR-2, R-1 through R-4, T and G RC through RMF-2) within the City from the hours of nine o’clock (9:00) P.M. to six o’clock (6:00) A.M. the following types of vehicles: A. All types trailers designed to be drawn by a motor vehicle except recreation trailers. B. Buses and trucks used for business purposes in whole or in part excluding pickup or panel trucks of less than one ton rated capacity.

*The General zone was applied to areas when they annexed. After annexation the City would go
through a full zoning process to zone the area with Renton zoning.
The SR1 and SR2 stood for Suburban Residence 1 and 2. They seem to have been comparable to
Comprehensive Plan land use designations. They are simply listed, with no standards or allowed
uses.
