Based on review of the checklist associated with this project, the Department of Ecology (Ecology) has the following comments: B. Environmental Elements; 7. Environmental health: The proposed project is located immediately north of a contaminated site Renton Village Cleaners (Cleanup site ID 3328). Soil and groundwater at the site are contaminated with chlorinated volatile organic compounds (CVOCs) including tetrachloroethene (PCE), trichloroethene (TCE), cis- and trans-1,2-dichloroethene (DCE) and vinyl chloride. Please add this information to the SEPA checklist. A soil vapor extraction (SVE) system is currently operating at the site to remediate contamination. The system’s control panel is located within a fenced enclosure just outside your southwest exterior wall. While Ecology understands that your proposed work is entirely interior, please ensure that northing disturbs the operation of the SVE system. One monitoring well (MW-6) is located within an optometrist tenant space, which is immediately south of your space. The most recent groundwater sample collected from MW-6 contained concentration of TCE and vinyl chloride above the vapor intrusion (VI) screening levels for commercial space. If you’re concerned with the indoor air quality of your space, you Mariah Kerrihard May 19, 2026 Page 2 can collect indoor air samples for analysis of VOCs. Please contact Ecology if you need further assistance. Additional information for the Renton Village Cleaners site is available on Ecology’s webpage. Thank you for considering these comments from Ecology. If you have any questions or would like to respond to these comments, please contact Jing Song from the Toxics Cleanup Program at (425) 229-2565 or by email at jing.song@ecy.wa.gov.
