EH03455 CASE# 26-3784 OF COLLISION 05/16/26 10:46 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE On 05/16/2026, at approximately 1046 hours, I was dispatched to an accident at S 18th ST and Grant Ave S in the City of Renton, while I was employed as a uniformed Patrol Officer for the City of Renton, County of King, State of Washington. It should be noted that Unit#1 did leave the scene and returned with a different car. He advised that if I could use the vehicle he brought instead of the 4Runner. I said no, and he gave me the license plate number for the 4Runner. He advised that it was his girlfriend's vehicle and that he was scared he would be in trouble with her. However, he did return to the scene and provided all his paperwork and statement. I spoke with Unit#1, who advised that he was behind Unit#2 on S 18th St, also waiting to turn right onto Grant Ave S. He advised that he was following her very closely and was not aware that she stopped her vehicle before colliding with Unit#2. He advised that he was at fault and takes accountability. Unit#1's vehicle was still drivable and had damage to the front of the plate. The driver claimed no injuries. He advised that he had insurance, but did not provide any. Unit#2 advised she was at the stop sign on S 18th ST, attempting to take a right turn onto Grant Ave S. She advised that as she was proceeding to enter the street, she noticed witness #2 walking across from Grant Ave S eastbound to westbound. She stopped to allow witness #2 to cross and was immediately hit from the back by Unit#1. Unit#2 claimed no injuries, and her vehicle was still drivable. The vehicle had damage to the rear bumper and trunk. Both drivers were provided with an informational exchange form. I spoke with witness #1, who advised that she had heard the sound of an accident and came to her window to check the noise. She observed the collision and witnessed Unit#1 drive away from the scene and return with a different SUV. She did not see the initial accident. I spoke with Witness #2, and she advised that she was walking across Grant Ave S towards Unit#2. While crossing, she saw that Unit#2 stopped for her to cross, but Unit#1 continued driving and collided with Unit#1 hitting her from the back. Based on this information, the proximate cause of this accident was Unit#1 driving too close to Unit #2, not giving Unit#2 enough space when needed to brake for a pedestrian. Unit#1 will receive a traffic ticket for following too closely and for failing to provide proof of insurance when asked. This concludes my report. I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the foregoing is true and correct. This report was electronically signed by Officer S.
