NARRATIVE
On 05/22/2026, at approximately 1041 hours, I was dispatched to an accident at 170 Bremerton PL
NE, in the City of Renton, while I was employed as a uniformed Patrol Officer for the City of Renton,
County of King, State of Washington. The accident involved a bicyclist and a vehicle.
I spoke with Unit 1, and he advised that he was delivering a package to a house he pointed out, at
address 169 Bremerton PI NE. He was traveling westbound on Bremerton PL NE in the only travel
lane. He advised that the bicyclist followed his vehicle out of anger, but he was unable to explain why.
Unit#1 stopped the vehicle and watched the Bicyclist go behind it and begin hitting its rear window.
He noted the Bicyclist hit the window multiple times, and it eventually broke. I asked if he made
contact with the bicyclist, and he said no. He advised that the bicyclist was not hit, but after the
bicyclist broke his rear window, he fell to the ground and claimed he was hit. I asked if he was
delivering, and he said yes. I asked how he locates his deliveries, and he said by following his GPS
on his phone, which he did on this occasion. I observed his vehicle and noticed he had many
packages still to be delivered.
I spoke with the bicyclist, and he advised that he was also traveling in the same lane as Unit#1 but
closer to the curb. He advised that he noticed Unit#1 run a stop sign at Bremerton Ave NE and
Bremerton PL NE and felt a little nervous as the vehicle approached him. As he continued westbound
toward the cul-de-sac, he advised that the car came close to him and eventually struck him, causing
him to crash. He advised that he had injured his knee and was really upset. He admitted he smacked
Unit#1's rear window one time, which shattered the glass. He claimed no injuries and was unsure if
his bicycle was damaged. He denied medical attention, and his bicycle was still rideable.
I spoke with a witness, identified as Huntsinger, who advised that he witnessed the whole incident.
Huntsinger lives at 161 Bremerton PL NE and was in his front yard when this occurred. He stated that
Unit#1 and the bicyclist were in the same lane, traveling in the same direction. The bicyclist was near
the curb, and Unit#1 was slightly farther behind. He advised that while both were approaching the cul
-de-sac, Unit#1 came closer to the bike and eventually made contact, striking him on his left side and
causing him to crash. The bicyclist got up and broke Unit#1's rear window out of anger. Huntsinger
believes that Unit#1 was not paying attention to the road and did not see the bicyclist on his right
because he was delivering packages. Huntsinger has no relationship with either party and even
helped both parties by medically treating the bicyclist and cleaning Unit#1's broken window. He
provided a recorded statement.
The bicyclist was advised that he was receiving a citation for Mal Mis 3 (RCW 9A.48.090) for
damaging Unit#1's rear window with the intent to break it. His citation number is 6A0119778.
Unit#1 will be receiving a traffic ticket for Per Electronic Device While Driving (RCW 46.61.672.1) for
using his phone while driving to locate houses for deliveries.
I believe the proximate cause of this accident is that Unit#1 was delivering packages and, while
following his GPS on his phone, was unaware there was a bicyclist. As the driver tried to turn into the
cul-de-sac, he did not notice the bicyclist and struck him, causing him to crash.
All parties denied medical treatment. An information exchange was provided to both parties.
This concludes my report.
My Axon camera was on for this call.
I certify (declare) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the State of Washington that the
foregoing is true and correct. This report was electronically signed by Officer S. Tamaivena #12788,
