EH06638 CASE# 26-4109 OF COLLISION 05/27/26 18:50 OF CbLLI510N NARRATIVE Renton Case #26-4109 On 05/27/2026 at 1854 hours I responded to the intersection of Rainier Ave N/Renton Ave Extension, in the City of Renton, King County, Washington. I was responding to the call of a recent non-injury, blocking accident. This incident was captured on my body worn video camera. This report is a summation of events that occurred and is not an exact sequence of events. Upon arrival, I contacted all involved parties pulled to the shoulder in the approximate 50 block of Renton Ave Ext. I identified Unit 1 as a red 2012 BMW X5 (WA LIC #A9316870) being driven by the registered owner of the vehicle, identified by his WA DL as Stephen A Townes (DOB 01/07/1967). Unit 1 driver provided me with his WA DL, vehicle insurance and registration. I identified Unit 2 as a gray 2014 Nissan Murano (WA LIC #A9231324) being driven by the registered owner of the vehicle, identified by her WA DL as Rachel A Johnson (DOB 07/16/1997). Unit 2 driver provided me with her WA DL and registration. Unit 2 driver advised she did not have current vehicle insurance. In speaking with Unit 2 driver, she stated that she was traveling westbound on Airport Way traveling through Rainier Ave N. Once through the intersection, and continuing westbound, Unit 2 driver stated she merged into the far right lane of travel. After merging, and continuing westbound, Unit 1 vehicle attempted to exit the parking lot of AMPM, striking the passenger side of her vehicle in the process. In speaking with Unit 1 driver, he stated he was in the AMPM parking lot attempting to merge into traffic to travel westbound on Renton Ave Extension. Unit 1 driver stated he saw Unit 2 vehicle traveling in the far right lane of travel, however Unit 2 vehicle had its right turn signal on. In observing the turn signal, Unit 1 driver stated he thought that Unit 2 vehicle intended to exit the roadway and into the AMPM parking lot-instead of continuing westbound and bypassing the gas station entrance. I observed significant front-end damage to Unit 1 vehicle and significant side damage (passenger side) of Unit 2 vehicle. All observed damaged was consistent with the version of events as provided by both Unit 1 and Unit 2 drivers. I took photographs of both vehicles and later uploaded them to Axon Evidence. While on scene, the front passenger of Unit 2 vehicle complained of neck pain as a result of the collision. Renton Fire was dispatched and later evaluated/cleared Unit 2 passenger. Several young children were also located in the rear passenger seats of Unit 2 vehicle-all of which were uninjured. I provided each involved unit with a case number and answered their remaining questions. I then cleared the scene. This ends my report.
