EH07957 CASE# 26-4239 OF COLLISION06101/2622:00 NARRATIVE Unless otherwise noted, all events took place in the City of Renton, in the County of King, in the State of Washington. This incident was captured on my body worn video camera and in-car cameras. This report is a summary of events that occurred and is not an exact sequencing of events. On 6/1/2026, at approximately 2203 hours I was dispatched to a report of a vehicle vs pedestrian hit and run at King Buffet located at 20 SW 7th St. Dispatch advised the pedestrian is a 5 year old and is bleeding from the face. At approximately 1805 hours 1 arrived on scene. I located the 5-year-old, identified as Najae K. Butler DOB 7/23/2020, on the sidewalk on the southeast corner of Hardie Ave SW and SW 7th St. I observed Najae bleeding from her nose and mouth. I also observed some bruising her side around the rib cage. Najae was sitting up shaking and appeared to be in a lot of pain. I contacted Najae's mom identified as Jackeline E. Zayas DOB 5/6/1989. Jackeline advised the following. She and Najae were walking southbound on the crosswalk of Hardie Ave SW crossing SW 7th St. As they were about 3/ of the way across the street, a white sedan was driving eastbound on SW 7th St crossed the intersection of Hardie Ave SW and struck Najae. When Najae was struck by the white sedan she was launched into the air and onto the sidewalk. Jackeline stated the white sedan then sped off towards Rainier Ave S possibly through the intersection. Jackeline stated the south and north bound traffic signals were red but she was not sure if she had the walk sign illuminated. Jackeline advised the driver was a brown skin male, possible 50's, with a mustache. Jackeline advised she would be able to ID the driver if located. I spoke with an employee at Popeyes, identified as Michael B.L. Oldright DOB 12/23/2006 via WADL. Michael advised he spoke to a district manager who sent him a video of the incident. The video was only a recording of the screen so the quality is not great. However, in the video a white sedan with black rims driving eastbound on SW 7th St approaching Hardie Ave SW and comes to a stop at a red light. The northbound lanes on Hardie Ave SW had a green light and you can see Najae and Jackeline crossing the intersection heading southbound. As they were about halfway through the intersection the northbound light turns to yellow and then red. The white sedan then takes off eastbound through the intersection. Due to the quality of the video I couldn't see the actual collision but the white sedan does continue without stopping towards Rainier Ave S. Another Officer looked at traffic cameras at Rainer Ave S and SW 7th St and may have picked up the white sedan heading south on Rainier Ave S. Officer Meyers is going to attempt to get the actually downloaded copy of the video mentioned above during the day tomorrow to hopefully get a better-quality version. Renton Fire and Medic One responded and provided medical aid. They advised that Najae had some concerning bruising surrounding her rib cage and that one of her ribs appeared out of place possibly broken. Based on the information above if the driver can be identified there is probable cause for Felony Hit and Run.
