Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 06/09/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 2215
hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury, non-blocking motor vehicle collision at 350 Sunset Blvd N.
Investigation unveiled the collision ultimately occurred just east of the intersection at NE 3rd St and Sunset
Blvd N. Portions of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any s
tatements referred to have been paraphrased and summarized.
I contacted the involved parties in the parking lot at the dispatched address.The driver of unit 2 told me that
he was in lane 1 traveling westbound, approaching the intersection. Unit 1 suddenly came over from lane 2
and struck the front driver's side quarter panel of his vehicle.
The driver of unit 1 told me that she needed to make a last minute correction from lane 2 to lane 1 in order to
continue northbound on Sunset Blvd N from the intersection. While making the lane change, her vehicle
collided with unit 2.
Unit 1 sustained little to no damage. I captured photos of both vehicles and uploaded them to the case file via
AXON Capture.
A witness stayed on scene with the involved parties. He advised he was directly behind unit 2 when the
collision occurred. His account was consistent with those I received from both drivers.
I issued the driver of unit 1 a citation via mail (#6A0002937)for violation of RCW 46.61.140—improper lane
usage.
