The results are in from the King County Countywide 2018 Grant Program
Competition! On June 13th the King County Project Evaluation Committee
recommended a total of $6.7 million in grant funds to Renton for the following
transportation projects. The recommended grant funding will now be forwarded to
the Transportation Policy Board for review during their meeting on June 20th.
o $4.5 million for the Rainier Avenue South Corridor Improvements Phase 4A
o $1.2 million for the South 2nd Street Conversion to Two‐way Street Traffic
o $1 million for the SW 43rd Street Preservation Project
Join us for the second part of our Juneteenth celebration tomorrow, Tuesday, June
19th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Carco Theatre for the Juneteenth Concert. For more

This July, as part of their summer safety campaign, Nextdoor will recognize law
enforcement partners who have gone above and beyond. Nextdoor put together a
list of the 30 most appreciated and engaging public safety officials, those whose
Nextdoor posts have received the most thanks and replies from members in the last
year. Sandra Havlik, Community Programs Coordinator for the Renton Police
Department, has been named a Nextdoor Neighborhood Champion! Sandra is one of
just 30 officers being honored across the country! Throughout the week of July
16th, Nextdoor will feature Sandra and the Renton PD on their social media channels
and blog.

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. North
4th Street will be reduced to two lanes between Garden Avenue North and Park
Avenue North due to the construction of curbs and gutters for the new Sartori
Elementary School. In addition, one to two eastbound lanes of North 3rd Street
between North Park and North Garden Avenues will be closed for construction
of curbs and gutters for Sartori Elementary. Questions may be directed to

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
intersection of East Valley Road and SW 19th Street will be closed for the I‐405
Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson at 425‐

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single
lane closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the northbound I‐
405 on‐ramp and the southbound I‐405 off‐ramp for the I‐405 Direct Connector

lane closure along the Talbot Road South ramp to northbound I‐405 for the I‐405

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Talbot
Road South between the northbound I‐405 on‐ramp and the southbound I‐405
off‐ramp will be FULLY CLOSED for the I‐405 Direct Connector Project. Signal
detours will be provided for both the southbound and northbound directions of

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect
intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515)
related to the I‐405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project.
In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures
along SR 167 and I‐405 are also scheduled this week related to the project. The
information outlines specific dates and time of the closure. Questions may be

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 22nd, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Additional truck traffic and hauling will occur in the northbound lanes just south
of SE Petrovisky Road due to site construction. Questions may be directed to

Monday, June 25th through Thursday, June 28th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Both
lanes on South Second Street (north side of the median) will be closed between
Logan Avenue South and Lake Avenue South (in front of Renton High School)
while street maintenance crews conduct asphalt repairs. Questions may be

Monday, June 18th through Friday, June 29th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Utility
maintenance crews will be doing a sewer main extension project along NE 25th
Street between Edmonds Avenue NE and Ferndale Avenue NE. This project will
result in daytime closure of NE 25th Street. A detour will be in place that will
route traffic along Edmonds Avenue NE and NE 24th Street. Questions may be

Wednesday, June 27th through Monday, October 22nd. NE 31st Street will be
closed for the construction of the NE 31st Street Bridge Replacement Project.

Monday, July 16th through Friday, August 24th. North 27th Place will be closed
for the construction of the North 27th Place Bridge Scour Repair Project.

Monday, June 18th through December 2018. Road closure on South 14th Street
between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility construction.

Monday, June 18th through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility Replacement
Project is underway with anticipated completion in May 2019. Following
completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface streets will be
conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is scheduled to be
completed prior to October 31, 2019.
