The Solid Waste Utility is launching the “Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB)” campaign in
efforts to reduce plastic bag use and litter throughout the city. The public is
encouraged to bring reusable bags when shopping and complete an online survey
about plastic bag use. The survey is available at rentonwa.gov/plasticbag through
June 6th. Questions may be directed to Solid Waste Senior Program Specialist Jina

The Renton History Museum has received an award from the Association of King
County Heritage Organizations (AKCHO), along with a team of four University of
Washington Museology graduate students, for the exhibit ‘A History of Renton in 75
Objects.’ The award honors collaborations between students and museums that
result in projects that benefit the King County Community. ‘A History of Renton in
75 Objects’ was curated and installed by the UW Museology students who used
unique artifacts and photos from the Museum's collection to help the visitor
visualize Renton's history.
Information about preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and
road closures happening this week can be found at

projects, and road closures will be at the following locations:
Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Additional
truck traffic and hauling will occur in the vicinity of Valley Medical Hospital
related to the construction of the new Medical Office Building. Questions may

Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. North 4th
Street will be reduced to two lanes between Garden Avenue North and Park
Avenue North due to the construction of curbs and gutters for the new Sartori

Elementary School. In addition, one to two eastbound lanes of North 3rd Street
between North Park and North Garden Avenues will be closed for construction
of curbs and gutters for Sartori Elementary. Questions may be directed to

Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th, 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single lane
closure on East Valley Road between SW 19th Street and Maple Avenue SW for
the I‐405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson
at 425‐430‐7291.
Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single lane
closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the northbound I‐405 on‐
ramp and the southbound I‐405 off‐ramp for the I‐405 Direct Connector Project.

closure along the southbound Talbot Road South ramp to northbound I‐405 for
the I‐405 Direct Connector Project. Questions may be directed to Justin Johnson

Monday, May 7th through Friday, May 11th, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect
intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515)
related to the I‐405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project.
In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures
along SR 167 and I‐405 are also scheduled this week related to the project.

Monday, May 7th through December 2018. Road closure on South 14th Street
between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility construction.

Monday, May 7th through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility Replacement
Project has commenced with anticipated completion in May 2019. Following
completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface streets will be
conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is scheduled to be
completed prior to October 31, 2019.
