Join us in honoring our veterans in a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Memorial
Park on Monday, May 28th at 1:00 p.m. The program is coordinated by VFW Post
#1263 and includes an invocation by the chaplain of the Fred Hancock American
Legion Post #19, presentation of colors, and a rendition of the National Anthem. A
ceremonial wreath honoring the five branches of military service will be laid at the
memorial and a ceremonial Honor Guard, playing of taps, and singing of a patriotic
song will conclude the ceremony. Parking for the ceremony is available at the 200
Mill Avenue building.
Kids ages five to 14 can fish from the dock at Gene Coulon Park at the Fishing Kids
Derby on June 2nd from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. Each child will receive a t‐shirt and
Zebco rod and reel. Register at rentonwa.gov/cybersignup by May 23rd with code

Drop off items no longer needed or find some you need at Stop and Swap, June 2nd
from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Renton Memorial Stadium. Stop and Swap is a free
event designed to divert quality goods from the waste stream and make them
available to neighbors and non‐profits. Find more information at
rentonwa.gov/stopnswap.
The Solid Waste Utility is launching the “Bring Your Own Bag (BYOB)” campaign in
efforts to reduce plastic bag use and litter throughout the city. The public is
encouraged to bring reusable bags when shopping and complete an online survey
about plastic bag use. The survey is available at rentonwa.gov/plasticbag through

Information about preventative street maintenance, traffic impact projects, and
road closures happening this week can be found at
http://rentonwa.gov/trafficimpacts. Preventative street maintenance, traffic impact
projects, and road closures will be at the following locations:
Monday, May 21st through Friday, May 25th, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The
westbound curb lane of Bronson Way North and the southbound curb lane of
Park Avenue North will be closed to allow street maintenance to conduct
concrete repairs on Bronson Way North at North 1st Street.
Monday, May 21st through Friday, May 25th, 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. North 4th
Street will be reduced to two lanes between Garden Avenue North and Park
Avenue North due to the construction of curbs and gutters for the new Sartori
Elementary School. In addition, one to two eastbound lanes of North 3rd Street
between North Park and North Garden Avenues will be closed for construction
of curbs and gutters for Sartori Elementary. Questions may be directed to

Monday, May 21st through Friday, May 25th, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The
intersection of East Valley Road and SW 19th Street will be closed for the I‐405

Monday, May 21st through Friday, May 25th, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Single lane
closure along northbound Talbot Road South between the northbound I‐405 on‐
ramp and the southbound I‐405 off‐ramp for the I‐405 Direct Connector Project.

closure along the Talbot Road South ramp to northbound I‐405 for the I‐405

Monday, May 21st through Friday, June 1st, 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect
intermittent lane closures and traffic delays along Talbot Road South (SR 515)
related to the I‐405/SR 167 Interchange Direct Connector Project.
In addition, northbound and southbound nighttime lane restrictions and closures
along SR 167 and I‐405 are also scheduled this week related to the project.

Monday, May 21st through Friday, June 1st. King County will be conducting
pavement resurfacing projects on the following roads:
154th Place SE between SE Jones Road and the Renton city limits at 156th
Avenue SE: Nightly work May 24th to June 1st between 7:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.
The road will be reduced to one lane with flaggers directing traffic.
SE 142nd Street between 144th Avenue SE to 154th Avenue SE: Daily work May
21st to May 24th between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The road will be reduced to
one lane with flaggers directing traffic.
144th Avenue SE between SE 136th Street and SE 142nd Street: Daily work May
21st to May 24th between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The road will be reduced to
one lane with flaggers directing traffic.

Tuesday, June 5th through Friday, June 15th, 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Street
maintenance crews will be repaving the area affected by the February storm
water system failure that resulted in a massive sinkhole at 901 Rainier Avenue
North. Expect significant lane reductions both directions of Rainier Avenue
North in this vicinity. Please note it is possible the lane restrictions could extend
beyond 4:30 p.m. as crews work to expedite completion of the project.

Monday, May 21st through December 2018. Road closure on South 14th Street
between Smithers Avenue South and Davis Avenue South for utility construction.

Monday, May 21st through October 2019. The Renton Hill Utility Replacement
Project has commenced with anticipated completion in May 2019. Following
completion of the utility project, an overlay of the affected surface streets will be
conducted as part of the 2019 overlay project. The overlay is scheduled to be
completed prior to October 31, 2019.
