Unless otherwise noted,the following occurred within the city limits of Renton, county of King, state of
Washington.
On 06/17/2026, 1 was working as a uniformed police officer for the city of Renton.At approximately 1759
hours, I was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision with injuries at Rainier Ave S and SW Sunset Blvd. Portions
of my involvement in the incident were captured on my department-issued bodycam.Any statements referred
to have been paraphrased and summarized.
I contacted the involved parties in the parking lot at Walgreens, 275 Rainier Ave S.The driver of unit 1 told me
that she was in lane 1 headed southbound on Rainier Ave S. She began to make a turn into the business
addressed at 275 Rainier Ave S. While making her turn,the front of unit 2 suddenly struck the front passenger
quarter panel of her vehicle.
The driver of unit 2 (an electric scooter)told me that the collision occurred because he was unable to stop in
time before colliding with unit 1,which was trying to enter the parking lot at the same business. He reported
riding on the sidewalk at the time of the collision.
I observed that unit 1 suffered little to no damage as a result of the collision. Unit 2 was rendered inoperable.
Renton Regional Fire Authority responded to the scene to tend to the driver of unit 2. He reported to me that
he suffered a few abrasions and bruises as a result of the collision.
A King County Sheriff's Office deputy who happened to be in the area provided me with some witness
information. I tried to call the witness but received no answer. I left a voicemail explaining my purpose, but
have yet to receive a call in return.
