On 06/20/2026, 1 was working uniformed patrol in marked Renton Police vehicle#B379 and wearing a
jumpsuit with Renton Police patches on each shoulder as well as the words"Police"written on the front
and back of my external vest.The below described incident is intended to be a summarized version of
what was captured on Axon Body Camera.
At approximately 1413 hours, I responded to a non-injury motor vehicle collision at the King of Kings
Church, located at 18207 108th Ave SE, involving two vehicles waiting in line for the church drive-thru
food bank.
Unit#1 was a silver Honda Fit operated by a female driver who speaks Russian. Unit#2 was a red Toyota
Corolla operated by a male driver who speaks Spanish. One of the involved vehicles appeared to be on
private church property at the time of the collision while the other involved vehicle was attempting to
enter the church parking lot from the public roadway(108th Ave SE).
Upon arrival, I observed moderate front passenger side damage to Unit#2. Unit#1 had minor damage
consistent with the reported contact. No injuries were reported by either party.
Through Axon BodyCam real-time translation,the driver of Unit#1 initially stated via Axon translation that
she was in line for the food bank at the church.The driver of Unit#1 stated that there was a long line of
vehicles and did not know what happened.After further clarifying questions, she admitted that she could
have rolled backwards into Unit#2.
The driver of Unit#2 stated that he and his adult passenger were approaching the private parking lot from
108th Ave SE when Unit#1,which was stopped ahead of him in the queue on a slight hill, rolled
backwards and struck the front passenger side of his vehicle. He denied any injuries and reported
moderate damage to his vehicle.
Based on the statements of both parties,the physical evidence, and the positioning of the vehicles, I
determined that Unit#1 was the proximate cause of the collision.The driver of Unit#1 failed to maintain
control of her vehicle at all times, specifically by allowing it to roll backwards on an incline into Unit#2.
A formal exchange of information was completed and provided to both drivers. No citations were issued.
Both parties were able to safely drive their vehicles from the scene without further incident.
No further police action is required.
