The plate listed is the plate associated with VIN, they were not on the vehicle at the time. *** Narrative: On 06.14.2026 at 1705 hours, our Air Unit (Onishi) advised that he was overhead a collision which occurred at 1700 hours, on Union AVE NE, just south of NE Sunset Blvd. This address is within the city limits of Renton, County of King, WA. The collision occurred between a dark gray or black Tesla Model X that had WA plate/CAA8185. This plate belongs on a Lincoln registered to Paul Pearson. The Tesla was disabled blocking northbound on Union in the 1200 block. The second vehicle, a dark gray or black Subaru Forester WA/DP39022, managed to pull off the road onto a driveway. I was dispatched at 1707 and arrived at 1711 hours. When 1 arrived, I advised the occupants of both vehicles that they were being audio and visually recorded. I asked if anyone was injured and no one was injured. I asked for each driver's license, registration, and insurance. The owner of Tesla (later identified as Paul Pearson) handed me a DOL report of sale showing the vehicle sold as a "gift" on 06.02.2026. 1 told him that the license plate currently on the Tesla did not belong to that car. Pearson told me that the plate belonged to him, and he thought he was able to put the plate on the car because it belonged to him. I told him this was incorrect and he later removed the plate. I checked and ran the VIN to the car. The VIN/5YJXCBE27GF003436 comes back to a 2016 Tesla Model X that shows registered to Nam Tram with a license plate of CKW6818. *Note this plate is not with the car*. Pearson provided photo WADL that identifies him as Paul Edmond Pearson DOB/02.25.1983. Pearson's DOL status is valid. Pearson told me that he hasn't transferred the title into his name and he does not have insurance. 1 asked Person to show me the damage to his car. The damage to Pearson's car is mainly the front end with the impact mainly on the driver's side. The window class that goes to the roof is also damaged. The airbags were deployed. Pearson told me that he was north on Union AVE NE and was looking at the little corner store on the SW corner of the intersection. He heard the alert from his car that he was too close to another vehicle. He was unable to stop before hitting the back of Mary Lynch's car which was stopped on Union AVE NE for traffic. I spoke to Mary F Lynch DOB/10.03.1953. Lynch is the registered owner of the dark gray or black 2025 Subaru Forester WA/DP39022. Lynch provided her photo WADL, proof of insurance, and registration. The damage to Lynch's vehicle was to her back bumper with more significant impact on the passenger side of the rear bumper. Lynch told me that she was stopped for traffic at the light when she was struck from behind by Pearson. Pearson's car was towed by Banker's towing. PAGE 3 OF 5 REPORT NO. I issued Sector Infraction #6A0001192 to Pearson for Inattention and operating a motor vehicle without liability insurance. This incident occurred in the City of Renton, King County, Washington unless otherwise specifically noted. During this incident I was equipped with body-worn camera which records both audio and video. Portions of the incident were recorded. This report is merely a summary of the incident and is not intended to be an exact transcription of the entire investigation or what may have been captured with the recording system. During this incident I was wearing a department issued uniform jump suit was marked with "Police" both on the back, and department patches on each shoulder of the jumpsuit, as well as a Renton Police Velcro badge on my left chest. It would be immediately obvious to any reasonable person that I was a Police Officer.
