The improvements include adding raised intersections with bulb outs, parklets, pedestrian plaza, lighting, street furniture, streetscape, bicycle blvd, bike racks, signage, wayfinding and converting S 3rd St to two-way operations. This project is one of the strategies identified in the City Center Community Plan. The project enhances downtown Renton as a destination area, while improving circulation, reducing traffic speeds and enhancing pedestrian safety. A feasibility study, including a Downtown Circulation Traffic Analysis for the conversion to two-way operations was completed. This is the last project of the Downtown Conversion to a two-way operations. It will continue the downtown improvements, further enhancing the pedestrian and bicyclists environment. Project is pending future grant funding availability.
