Unless otherwise noted, the following happened within the City Limits of Renton, County of
King, State of Washington.
On 07/02/26 at approximately 0130 hours I was dispatched to collision at 1314 Union Ave 14E
Apt. 6. 2 vehicles had collided in the parking lot and the driver of one of the vehicles appeared to
be walking away from the cars.
The driver of Unit#1 told me that they were trying to park their car into a space in the parkir g lot
so they could walk home since they lived nearby. They were going to walk home and come get
the car later. As they were backing into the spot they side swiped Unit#2 as it was parked
unoccupied.The rear passenger side of Unit#1 struck the front driver side of Unit#2. The driver
of Unit#2 was located nearby and the drivers had begun exchanging information when I arrived.
The driver of Unit#2 was inside the call address when someone came inside and told him
someone had struck his car. He did not see it but went outside and met with the driver of Unit#1
and began exchanging information.There was minor damage to both vehicles. I took photos of
both vehicles.
The driver of Unit#1 had just come out of a bar, smelled of alcohol, and was stumbling aro nd
as he walked. I had the drivers continue exchanging information and then gave them both the
case number. Since we were on private property and the driver of Unit#1 lived so close I told
him to give me his keys and he could pick them up in the morning as I did not feel he was safe to
drive. He agreed. I asked if he had a second key and he said yes it was at his house. I told him I
would give him a ride home and he could give me the second key so I could ensure he would not
try to come back and drive the car away. He refused. I told him if he would not allow me to have
the second key I would have to tow the car to ensure he did not drive on a public road back to his
house or elsewhere. He still refused. I called for a tow and Bankers towing arrived and
impounded the car. I completed a tow/impound form and gave it to the tow operator along with
the one key I had. The driver of Unit#1 had already left so I did not give him a copy of the

The driver of Unit#1 was the proximate cause of the accident. By his own admission he ba ked
into Unit#2 as it was stationary in a parking stall.The damage to both vehicles was consistent
with this.
