NARRATIVE
On June 8, 2026 at approximately 1553 hours, I was dispatched to a non-injury and non-blocking
vehicle collision at the intersection of Lind Ave SW and SW 43rd St, within the City Limits of Renton,
County of King, State of Washington.
While en route, dispatch advised that a passerby requested Renton Regional Fire Authority (RRFA)
to respond as a precaution due to airbag deployment.
Upon my arrival, I confirmed that the passenger of Unit 2 was complaining of neck pain. RRFA had
already responded and evaluated the driver of Unit#2 prior to my arrival. While on scene, I was able
to collect each involved party's information and independent summary of the events leading up to the
collision.
The driver of Unit 1, identified as Ronald S Simpson, said he was traveling westbound on SW 43rd St
and was approaching the intersection of Lind Ave SW. Ronald stated that he was intending to
continue straight and believed he had a green light. As he entered the intersection, he observed Unit
#2 enter the roadway. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 collided in the roadway causing significant damage to
the front of his vehicle.
The driver of Unit 2, identified as Michelle Munoz-Godinez, said she was the sole occupant of her
vehicle and was stopped at the intersection of Lind Ave SW and SW 43rd St. She sat on the
southside of the intersection and was attempting to travel north on Lind Ave SW. After her light
turned, she proceeded through the intersection. As she reached the center of the intersecting
roadways, she was struck by Unit#1 on her passenger right side. The impact caused Unit#2's
airbags to deploy and caused severe damage to her passenger side doors and frame.
Both drivers claimed they had a green light, so I reviewed the cameras located at AM/PM. There, I
confirmed that Unit#1 had a red light and Unit#2 had a green light. Michelle and the traffic around
her was proceeded forward when the collision occurred. Traffic moving westbound had come to a
stop, but Unit#1 continued forward without slowing down.
Based on the above statements, I determined that the Driver of Unit 1 (Ronald) is the proximate
cause for the cause of collision as he did not grant the right of way to traffic already in the roadway
and underway. Smith violated RCW 46.61.190(2) as every driver of a vehicle approaching an
intersecting roadway shall stop where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersecting
roadway before entering the roadway, and after having stopped shall yield the right-of-way to any
vehicle in the intersection or approaching on another roadway so closely as to constitute an
immediate hazard during the time when such driver is moving across or within the intersection or
junction of roadways.
I cited Ronald via mail for Failing to Stop/Yield at an intersection causing a collision.
Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 had to be privately towed due to extensive damage. An exchange of
information was provided to all involved parties.
