This is an atypical tree removal so whatever in your professional opinion is necessary to include.) The basis for this tree removal request is aviation safety and regulatory compliance. The tree is located within the Airport's Runway Protection Zone (RPZ) and constitutes an obstruction within protected airspace. Please see subsequent document “Site Plan” which includes illustrations of the Airport’s RPZ. The tree in question is a Douglas flr and is estimated to be 75-80 feet tall. The continued presence reduces obstruction clearance and poses a potential hazard to aircraft operations if left in place. Additionally, the tree penetrates navigable airspace governed by 14 CFR Part 77 and adversely affects protected airspace surfaces established to ensure the safe and efficient operation of aircraft. Due to its location and height, the tree creates an ongoing risk to fiight safety and airport operations. Removal of the tree is necessary to maintain compliance with federal aviation standards, preserve the integrity of the Airport's protected airspace, and eliminate a recognized obstruction within the RPZ. Given these safety and operational concerns, the Airport must move forward with the removal of the tree to provide a safe airport environment. The Airport would like to request the fee-in-lieu of replanting. Sighting planting replacement trees could increase wildlife activity and heighten bird-strike risks.
